Majority of lawmakers in 116th Congress are millionaires

So the salary of a congressperson is $174,000 annually.
How did they get all this wealth?

As Deep Throat said, “Just follow the money.”
How come literally nobody is following the money?

And if nobody can answer how specifically they became millionaires then our politicians are crooks and nothing is being done about it.

Yep, the fact they spend tens of millions of dollars to get a job that pays less than 200,000 a year has always made me suspicious

Some already had money when they decided to run. The suspicious ones are similar to the bartender who stole tips from her co-workers.

You’re probably one of those “conspiracy theorists” that lie and say term limits are a good thing.

Totally brainwashed.

Answered your own question.

When the people charged with investigating the crooks are in league with the same crooks, you get get stupid shite like Trump's tax returns being made public for no legitimate reason.

Add to that, the high cost of living in DC or Va plus maintaining a home back in their home state. Your question is rhetorical obviously, but as an example, Bennie Thompson's net worth is north of 1 Million (meager compared to those on your list) but the highest paying job he had prior to becoming D2 Representative was a school teacher. Seems he served as a county supervisor while here but that doesn't really pay much.

Well, I hear tell that McConnell's money comes from the Chinese shipping industry. But I guess he counts that as his wife's money.
