re: Social reform to restore marriage and birth rates

The real issues with birth rates are economic.
Partially, but also cultural. Here some things I see:
1. People spend way too much time becoming an adult, although our system forces that hand (spending years in college only to get a middling wage and piling up meaningless casual relationships)
2. Young people are no longer adept at marriage skills but dating skills (flirting and casual dating skills are not fit for marriage and you can easily swipe for a new match)
3. Younger people are more interested in vanities and marriage/children means they get to spend less effort on their vanities UNLESS the child will be incorporated into the vanity
4. While it is true that economics are squeezing people more, people have more expensive tastes and are unwilling to make compromises
Its a combo of people having bad priorities, obsessing over materialistic lifestyles, and only becoming marriage minded far too late in life.

which will not make marriage more enticing for the population of women you want having kids.
Women will submit to “the patriarchy” to have children. They’d die to have children.
The uncoupling of marriage from childbirth and nurture has been the single biggest harm to our culture.

Divorce allowed women to be independent from their husband's.
Birth control allowed women to be independent of their children.
And the trans movement is telling women to cut off their body parts to be independent from themselves.

Its not economic. Poor people are still having kids.
Let me show you how delusional Millennials are.
quote:
In mid-November, financial services company Empower released the results of a survey conducted by The Harris Poll in August that asked 2,034 Americans aged 18 and over if they think there is a price ot happiness. The average respondent said they think they need a $284,167 annual salary to be happy, and for millennials, that amount was much higher at $525,000.
Meanwhile, Gen Z said it would take a $128,000 salary for them to be happy, Gen X said they would be happy with $130,000, and boomers estimated the amount at $124,000.
Theyre fricking broken. They are THE outliers.

Many of our great grand parents were married at 16 and starting families and work.

And made things work.
These kids today dont know how to "make things work" and depend on systems or massive amounts of money.
Millennials think they need half a million a year, and a 1 million dollar house to be happy. Theyre fricking retarded.
They dont have kids because they dont want to lose their decadent lifestyle.

The progressive movement is all about uncoupling humans from natural inclinations.

Not really, it's priorities.
When the wife and I had a new born we simply did without extravagant vacations, eating out and other discretionary expenditures. I can tell you several of my young nieces and nephews (20's-30's) have put having children on the back burner in lieu of taking trips, socializing, newer model vehicles and hip rentals around the happening areas in KC.

A return to Jesus to the majority of the country could help.

They spend so much time in school because of the scarcity of good jobs. If living wages were more plentiful, less schooling would be necessary to access them.

Stop making Family Court anti Father and Husband.

Absolutely. Lots of young people are really delusional.

They arent having kids because they have no fricking clue how to survive without stacks of cash.

Good measures. Right now there really is no incentive to get married unless you want to lose all your shite.

Nope. My kids are that age. Homeowners and all. I have 6 grandkids.
Most millennials are economically delusional. They dont want to lose their carefree urban lifestyle.

Do you really want the government involved in this?
Government that governs least governs best.

Well yes, you must be married filing jointly to be eligible

In fact, at tax time, being a parent comes with certain perks. For example, eligible single mother of two could claim up to $6,604 in EITC, up to $4,000 in Child Tax Credit, plus as much as $6,000 spent on care expenses.
Not currently.

An economy that doesn't necessitate two salaries to have a family is a good start

This is the root of the problem, and why middle class families aren’t having more kids, and why people are delaying marriage and kids for so long. It is getting increasingly unaffordable to sustain a child-rearing lifestyle.
Culture is a lagging indicator of economics.
There are things which can be done with tax and entitlement reform that would better incentivize marriage and child birth, but you can only push the needle so far without actually fixing the real economic problems.
