Never because the impending sanctions would collapse their country and kill millions.

Another collapse would be that nice shiny 3 gorges dam. If Taiwan was smart they would have plans to take it out. If China moves on Taiwan they would likely fall so they should make it hurt like hell.

China would have to “absorb” Taiwan politically and socially through heightened social and economic interaction AND the United States would have to more or less decline to take military action. We have the capacity to stop every ship at sea going to or from China all over the world, collapse it’s economy and starve it’s population. That is without direct military action around the island of Formosa which we almost assuredly would do as well. Taiwan won’t become part of China unless it chooses to AND we allow it through weakness.

Far superior? How so? And be very specific.

The only Fighter they produce is the IDF F5 that’s 25 years old or older. The Chinese policy of forcing them to constantly respond to incursions has all but rendered them useless. Those F16s and Mirage 2000s are not able to keep up (despite Hollywood’s depiction) against modern bombers and fighters.

And Japan is feeling the strain with its 30 something modern F34s and 200 or less local built F15Js (Mitsubishi built them under license)

So yes their Air Force is old and limited but it’s well trained, active, and prepared to fight, unlike the Ukrainian Air Force.

Their small arms are a mix of local built FAL clones and M16 and M4 clones. Their sidearms are a hodgepodge of new and old with browning hipowers, 1911s, Styrs and glocks represented and their beretta M9 clone. I’m kinda disappointed they didn’t buy the Daewoo K pistol from South Korea honestly.

The sub guns are likewise a mix of new and old with everything from FN 5.7s to WWII grease guns and uzis mixed in.

Their heavier stuff is mostly modern with WWII surplus backing it up. They really were able to get those under contract or license it seems.

They did buy a bunch of surplus South African stuff that seems odd.

Their artillery is very dated and a glaring problem. But they have started building a newer light tank that has promise.

They have just over 50 attack helicopters, mostly super cobras that are retro fitted. This is another huge weakness.

They do have a decent stock of mobile anti tank stuff. In an invasion they should be more than a speed bump hoping Japan and Australia can leverage a US response.

Overall their biggest 2 advantages over the Ukrainian military are training and they already use NATO equipment. This allows them to be integrated quickly into any NATO nation supply and support plan. The equipment and training compatibility is huge. No need to sneak advisors in country as they have trained on the equipment already

They aren't in the short term. There is no reason for them too. They will annex Taiwan politically over the next several decades--same as they did with Hong Kong.

China can't take Taiwan as things stand, especially if there is any USN/JSDF/Australian/EU aid whatsoever. They would end up looking worse than the Russians do flopping around in Ukraine. Given the importance that image/prestige plays in China, there is no chance they move for Taiwan until they are positive they can take it. Plus, they don't want Taiwan as a wasteland. They want the economic and industrial infrastructure. They can't just level the place in order to take it either.

If China was or ever had been capable of taking Taiwan, if would have already done it. But they aren't. As I said previously, they'll take it from the inside politically.

We will do a false flag to make it look like we are helping but in reality we just gonna let them have it. The US is done. We will very shortly not be the worlds super power. We won’t be able to beat up the small countries any more. The dollar will be destroyed and our military will be neutered. It’s a one world government.

The USA better stock up on pharmaceuticals and antibiotics before this happens. We are at China's mercy. Thanks, again, Democrats...not.

Won't happen, because there's widespread belief in a "one-China" construct. Every Taiwanese person I met was a one-China advocate. China will simply reincorporate its "renegade province"; there will be nary a gunshot to be heard.

Yeah, that's why all the Chinese folks in Hong Kong are so happy that they are part of China again.

I bet Creepy Joe won't say a thing during his SOTU about the Taiwan crisis? Or the ChiCom Spy Balloon incident?

Most likely, the nation will be subjected to another long, dull arse narrative about 'we need to do away with fossil fuel' blah blah blah. Joe Biden is an awful speaker. Especially when he goes off prepared text and begins to blabber incoherently. His speeches are cringe-worthy, at best. Plus, he lies ad nauseam.

I'll skip the speech; thank you.

Trump 2024 - You want him in your corner.

The native mainlanders that have been moving there since the 60's and their progeny are happy about it. They vastly outnumber native HKers who supported British rule or HK autonomy.

Ah, so that's why there were so many riots against China?
