re: So what actually stopped the insurrection?

Kind of feels like we're missing some pieces here, right?
It wasn't an insurrection. It was a riot that then led to non-violent people entering the capitol and goofing off in an absurd situation.
The emotional effects of riots wear off over time and the rioters dispersed and then others left once they got enough lulz/pics.

I'm pretty sure some guy was impeached for being the leader of it.
Yeah, and another guy was impeached for getting a blow job. Meaningless politics.
Trump was the "leader" only insofar as he told his followers to, "Stop the steal!" and "Let's walk down to Congress and fight!". it's not like anyone was really drawing up action plans.

What part fell apart?
The ideal they had in their minds when first they got on the road to DC. "It'll be fun!" A few looked like they were having fun, but most just kind of seemed like once they got there, they didn't really know what to do. It went from "Stop the steal!" to just an unauthorized, unguided tour of the Capitol.

what stopped them?
They stopped themselves as they lost inertia once they realized it wasn't anything like they imagined it would be. Like I said, it wasn't like their was an action plan with clear goals and objectives.

Technically, Mike Pence.
No, I'm almost certain I remember the militant insurrectionists having left the Capitol long before Mike Pence did anything of note, which is how he actually got to do anything. Come to think of it, that's my question isn't it? What actually stopped the insurrection?
What happened that thwarted the insurrectionists being all insurrectiony and enabled Mike Pence to resume his duties in about the same time it takes to watch Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers?
On this Day of Remembrance, I'm simply trying to keep my thoughts in order, and the damndest thing has happened...I can't recall what made all those enemy combatants leave the battle field? Surely, they were pushed back by some military force, what with this having been the deadliest attack and sacking of the US Capitol in forever, but all I can seem to recall personally is them wandering around inside, and then just sort of wandering back out when they got hungry or whatever.
But maybe I'm misremembering?

Are you sure, though...because it seems like everyone important keeps telling us that it was not JUST an insurrection, but the Sacking of the Capitol!
So if it was an insurrection, something must have stopped it...unless they won and we still don't know it yet?
And if it wasn't, well...that would mean nearly the entirety of the press and their elected officials on the left (and many on the right) are...lying to us all?

"Violent riot trying to disrupt an act of Congress" isn't that much better than "insurrection"

I'm not so sure. They seem to be conducting hearings with super serious interviews trying to get to the bottom of what happened. To hear you explain it, none of that would be necessary, and I can't believe that!

Wait...I thought it was a violent insurrection? This is all so confusing.

I'm not sure entropy stops insurrections or coups. They either succeed, or they're turned back. They don't usually get bored 75% into it and wander the frick off.

Late afternoon the authority was approved and the Virginia and Maryland National Guard Troops and State Police emptied the Capitol of protesters.

Cool...this is what I'm asking for! Can you link some video of this because it would be the first I'm seeing of it? It must have been one hell of a fight, getting all of those violent insurrections hellbent on overturning the Democracy out of The Capitol. What was the total body count?

Acting Defense Secretary Christopher C. Miller and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley spoke with Vice President Michael R. Pence, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), after President Donald J. Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol building. Miller’s statement did not mention any discussions with the President before the entire D.C. National Guard was activated.
“We are prepared to provide additional support as necessary and appropriate as requested by local authorities,” Miller said. “Our people are sworn to defend the constitution and our democratic form of government and they will act accordingly.”

What are you talking about? It’s been ongoing for the last year.

I was there. By the time Trump finished speaking and everyone got to the capital it was over. We never saw any of the theatrics that the deep state orchestrated. I have texts bt me and some friends who were also there bc I was reading online about the “breach”. We were separated on the way to the capital bc I stopped to buy something at Starbucks for my daughter and to warm up a min. I was asking if they were ok bc i heard people were shot and overtaking the capital. They said, “What in the world are you talking about? We are standing here in front of the building and people are just holding flags.” I told her that wasn’t true bc I just watched it online. She said I don’t what you watching but I’m standing here and telling you people are just talking and many are holding up their flags.
We left Starbucks and sure enough.... what you saw online and on TV was NOT what we witnessed with our own eyes.
It’s like they dropped off the 3 busses of paid antagonists, they carried out their roles within 15 mins and got back on the busses with their same police escorts that brought them in.
That’s all on video as well.

It was time for dinner.
They blocked us from eating. Forced every restaurant to close so we couldn’t eat. They also locked us in the hotels that evng until the next mrng, that were each surrounded by men in riot gear. They wouldn’t even let guests go outside to smoke.
It was hell of hard to get out of the city the next day. We had to take the metro way out of DC to get an Uber driver for a ride to the airport.

By the time we reached the capital it was over. It was a false flag.....Almost everyone will tell you they never saw what we continue to see looped on tv..

I can't believe that!
quote:There was some violence, but more importantly there was an implied threat of force - as there always is when the mob is involved, as the mob mentality is totally unpredictable. I've seen the mob-mentality in New Orleans around Mardi Gras where the mob is partying together, all well and good, and the next thing you know everybody is kung-fu fighting - and then suddenly it stops for no apparent reason.
I thought it was a violent insurrection?

If it looks like it's not going to go as you imagined, and you can back away slowly and not get into any serious trouble, I think that's what the average American would do. Remember, were talking about Americans here, not radical Islamists. You seem to be taking a rather strict approach to this, like everyone has to act according to some manual. That's not the case. It's a mob.
But I do want to say that I've really appreciated your rational approach to the discussion. It's a pleasure bandying ideas about with people who don't get defensive and resort to personal attacks.

Ashli Babbitt getting murdered I think put a halt to things.
No one even knew she was shot until we started having family members call us to see if we were ok. And that was if they were lucky to reach us bc they blocked cell signals. It was hard to even communicate with the friends in DC with me.

The mob arrived in busses that including CNN reporters and cameras... with police escorts. They were in and out before we even made it to the capital.

They dispersed bc they got the footage they needed and had to get back to their busses. Police not only escorted them in and out but were also inside the capital in rooms to pass out “weapons” thru a window for them to use to smash other windows and look scary.

The correct answer is they left at halftime to beat the after work traffic in DC.
Every road in DC was closed Jan 5. We got an Uber at the airport and he had to drop us off at the closest metro station to the airport and take several lines into DC and then to whichever line was nearest our hotel. It was a bitch getting in and out. Except for the actors. They had police escorts,

pence this thread pretends that there was no plan. there was. to have pence say there are serious issues so the state legislatures must sort this out. then the states choose trumpish electors. ta da. trump is King. there was also the version where the state congressional delegations vote 26 to ha ha. either way the coup wins. this thread is based on pretending. its a lie.
You’re either a fckg liar or just that ignorant.
We had been locked in our hotels for hours and had no fckg clue what was going on except for what we saw online, tv, or from family members back at home.
It was around 11:30 that night laying in bed with my daughter watching the news when I realize and told her I was pretty sure we just witnessed a false flag bc none of the shite in that looped footage was reality.
