So if you had to guess, what’s the trigger to put in ground troops?

Obviously I don’t think it’s likely at all but let’s play the game just for funsies.

And I don’t want to get into what everyone’s opinions are on whether they should go in or not. I’m sure most are adamantly against, as am I. What do you think would trigger the Trump admin to commit ground troops.

We can also assume that there could probably be some SOF type operations that could happen. So let’s it keep to more of a larger scale ground operation.

The only thing I can really think of is if Iran shuts down the straight of Hormuz and we send in some guys to seize their side of it and hold it.

Not reading all of that but Trump will never put boots on the ground in Iran

Some of you people need to learn what winning is.

Why?

The Ayatollah, if the US has indeed removed his nuclear capabilities, has nothing standing in the way of him and regime change by the Israelis. We've recently seen what regime change means to the Israelis (ISIS deposing Assad in Syria).

Do you think the power struggle in Iran is unlikely?

Really no point.

Trump claims they could kill the Ayatollah right now.

Not sure if he’s bluffing, but from what Mossad has been able to do, I really wouldn’t doubt it.

We will not. If Iran chooses to strike our bases/ personnel in the region the Ayatolah will be dead within 48hrs. I predict Mossad will clean up most of,the Iranian regime leaders that are left.

Maybe. Maybe not. Probably not but that’s not even the point of the thread.

I’d guess if there are any ninjas already in country they were pre-staged somewhere in the middle of the desert ready to rescue downed pilots if it came to that

Well, obviously they’re going to attack our bases now. I’m heartbroken for the families of those service members who are being sacrificed for Israel. Then, we’ll continue to escalate. And as with any war in the Middle East, it won’t be quick and easy. We never learn.

Nothing - Iran is one of the hardest countries to have a ground invasion - the have 20 mil men on call for their army.

And Tehran is surrounded by huge mountains

We won’t be sending ground troops ever.

We will just bomb then into oblivion

Those “ninjas” are PJs and CCTs from the USAF 27STS. My old unit and while I don’t know if they were propositioned I am glad we have GPS guided munitions rather than laser guided. Sneaking into place to make sure our bombs hit the X was dangerous business.

When a radical Muslum spits in the wind causing a shift in airflow to a single hair on a US citizen's head.

Then.....let Hell reign down upon them.

I know who they are. I chose to simple words because not everyone knows the 4 billion acronyms the military uses.

I believe the largest vulnerability that we have is our electric grid. With the open border over the last 4 years, who knows what terror cells have entered and remain. There is no attack that would be more lethal to our population than shutting down our grid. Millions would die within a few months. This would trigger ground troops, but would be the least of our worries at that point.
