A 2021 report by Dan Bacher in the Sacramento News revealed that there have been NO DELTA SMELT seen in the wild since 2012.
They’re extinct.
quote:
The last time Delta smelt – an indicator species for the broader ecological health estuary – were found in CDFW’s September survey was in 2015. Only 5 were caught by state biologists at the time.
After that, the only year that Delta smelt were caught during the entire four-month survey was in 2016, when a total of 8 smelt were reported.

Doesn’t matter, Roger says all that water that was redirected wouldn’t have mattered anyways. And Powerman says this had nothing to do with government incompetence or neglect. It was just the unforeseen winds. No one could’ve prevented this.

I had them as an appetizer last month at The French Laundry.

Look, you bigots, if we don't let Maui and LA burn down, how will BlackRock and Oprah and Zuck double their portfolios and make 115% ROI next quarter?

That all would be easier to accept IF this issue about the water hadn't been foreseen, the not clearing debris from the aged and faulty powerlines, etc.
Nobody can say having water in the fire hydrants wouldn't have helped. Nobody can say cutting the fire department funding didn't contribute.
These wildfires have been getting worse over the years and there been zero mitigation by the state government. That's a fact.

100%
It's amazing that people deny that fire prevention science works...
We know how to mitigate fire risk.

It’s just so obvious.
I can’t figure out what the motive is for these contrarian idiots other than TDS is rotting their brains. If any Trump supporter says “X” they reflexively say “Y”
Which is of course exactly what happened with Trump warning Newsom about these fires and preventative measures for the last 6 years.

95% of the San Joaquin water is diverted into the pacific to save a minnow that no one has seen in a decade. That 5% of water not dumped into the pacific should be fine for fire prevention.

Probably because you people are hung up on talking points.
There are a lot of things that contributed to this disaster, not all of them are caused by politics.
Too many of yall are pushing contributors as the main cause of the fire. Its not true.
An honest discussion cant be had when you have made up your mind already.
