Title II can be a major barrier to entry. In fact, it can be used to grant single provider status.

holy shite...it creates barriers to entry for new ISPs and similar systems.
you're not even thinking on the right level
you're still hung up on websites.

They seem unable to grasp this point.
And they both refuse to engage or discuss any analogies or comparisons. So, as it is an exercise in futility to try to reason with the unreasonable, I will exit this thread. Good luck King Bob and GtG and whoever else. Fight the good fight.

How in the world does net neutrality create a barrier to entry for new ISPs?

AT&T has 40% of the landline telephone market.
Ours is very regional. Its a power company that expanded to telephone then internet due to decreased regulations.
Again, you should be advocating for more competition instead of increased regulation.

But it doesn't. And in most markets, single-provider status was granted 20 years ago. Your doomsday scenario with NN is already reality.
My doomsday without NN is imminent.

jesus christ you're a fricking imbecile.
I suggest you read more of Jefferson and what he meant by "moneyed corporations"
He is very clear in several letters and in his push to add "freedom from commercial monopolies" to the bill of rights

But it doesn't.
What?
What mechanisms in Title II prevent this from happening?

Not at all. You and Kingbob don't seem to be able to separate NN and the regulations used to enforce it.
It's like blowing up a beaver dam with a cruise missile.

I am. We need to reform how we administer the infrastructure at the state and local level, but until there is increased competition where the market will enforce NN (because it is what consumers want and need), we need SOMEONE enforcing NN on behalf of those consumers who currently lack the market leverage to enforce it themselves. NN is needed because there is no free market. NN is not a sizable barrier to entry to a free market. In the existence of an actual free market, government enforced NN would be unnecessary, but until that happens, it is needed.
NN is like a wall with Mexico. There's this problem of hundreds of thousands of people streaming across an unprotected border. A wall is needed to stop those people. The long term solution is to fix the problems causing them to come here in the first place by making ending the entitlement programs that attract them, cracking down on illegal hiring and payment, and fixing the countries they're fleeing from; but in the short term, a wall can fix that problem while those solutions are in progress.
NN is a stopgap to repair a temporary problem of a massive lack of consumer leverage. Once that leverage has been restored, the wall can come down.

When we're discussing economics, "competitors" that are not substitute products in the eyes of consumers are not treated by consumers like competitors.
LOL. You used the terms you remembered from class, but don't seem to know what they mean.
quote:This is what is known as, competition.
Even though they technically compete,
quote:Well this is just silly and you damned sure didn't learn it in ECON. If I sell zucchini and you sell chicken, we are clearly selling different niches but we are ABSOLUTELY competitors. Don't believe me? Let's see what happens when Chicken is $50 a pound.
they're actually competing in separate niches for separate markets that only overlap in rare circumstances
The existence of the zucchini sets a ceiling on what you can get away with charging for chicken before a lot of your customers say, "frick that, I'm eating zucchini".

"freedom from commercial monopolies"
NN does nothing about this. Instead of increasing choice, it just regulates these "monopolies."

Oh, and yeah. "Current".
I see your problem.

What are you qualifications for this discussion?
Oh, and actually working IN business.

Do you think the free market is currently fricking Comcast in the arse?
