Trying to make decisions for my company about whom to send home. Not much we can do about remote working. We are a heavy equipment dealership. and service and parts make up the bulk of our staff (aside from sales reps, who shouldn't be in here anyway).

Just trying to get a canvass.

FWIW, we are also in a couple of small towns (~10K), a couple of hours away from anything remotely urban.

Have their been ANY cases in your towns?

At any rate...

Nobody. Business as usual as much as possible. It's what's best for you, your employees and for everyone else.

Are you considering sending your employees home because there is no work for them to do or because you're afraid of them catching the virus?

Might want to look into what my uncle is doing.

They are doing staggered days in the office (O&G company) to keep a minimum amount of people there at any given time, but still allows for things to flow. Some things can't be done remote (ie. cutting checks etc) without the proper set up. It's working for them.

Good luck sir!

I'm ehs for a major manufacturer... specialty on the E. I was sent home at the end of yesterday because I can simply do reporting and monitoring remote for the short run.

we are a team of 3, but I'm the only chmm and the only one capable of dealing with environmental issues. if this prolongs, I could envision being cycled in and out with the other 2 on our team.

if there is anyone at your company that is a phone call/computer person only (no face to face and no retrieval of parts), they seem to be prime for remote work.

Split or staggered shifts helps reduce the number of people there at one time.

High traffic touch points like time clocks should be stocked with hand sanitizer and/or disinfecting wipes and employees instructed to use them before and after touching the clock.

Encourage customers to call in orders instead of coming in.

Other that that, damn the torpedos full speed ahead.

Multiple multi-hour nationwide conference calls.

And there’s always some dipshit who has a dozen dipshit questions at the end of the call that makes the call take even longer.

Our employer is fumigating the entire property. No one will be allowed in or out. Doors will be taped. The return date keeps getting pushed back

We have split into two teams. Team A is in the office this week. Team B is working from home as much as they can. Next week we switch. We took the team approach in case an employee were to get the virus. If that happens, that team drops out until the others are tested. Some offices are using 3 teams if they have enough people. Without the team approach it will be harder to determine the employees that came in contact with the infected employee. We also excluded employees at higher risk from being on a team. They are remote only.
