Gun Ordinance

Personally I oppose ANY more gun control. I don't care what it is or how much "common sense" it makes. They're not trying to fix issues anymore.

If you live here in Shreveport, or Bossier or anywhere in Caddo, tell these people that this is not as popular as Bloomburg and Adrien Perkins have led them to believe.

John Nickleson is getting dragged over this stupid law proposal and he keeps doubling down. There's zero common sense involved, just an idiotic idea to be made into another unenforceable, feel-good-do-nothing law that imbeciles peddle to other imbeciles.

So does the constitution. ANY law is an infringement. Make murder illegal and be done with it.

It actually does do something. Anytime someone has a gun stolen they won't report it because then they would have to pay $1,000 fine. Actually does the exact opposite of what the bill is intended to do.

Possession by convicted felon is good law, but even at that, I’d be ok with it being altered to only apply to specific felonies.

Otherwise, I agree, any law, permit, or what not is an infringement.

FIFY

The first measure in 1934 or whenever it was is unconstitutional.

Either the 2nd Amendment means what it says or it doesn’t. I’m a 2A absolutist.

If the government can have belt fed m240bs then I should be able to as well. If the government can have howitzers I should be able to as well. If the government can have Abrams tanks (the mechanical kind, not the Georgian water Buffalo) then I should be able to as well.

The NFA should’ve been enough for an armed insurrection when it came into law.

It does and a very strong one. This imbecile Nickelson is a lawyer and thinks this law could pass muster because he believes in a definition of possession that isn't supported in any legal sense of the word. Last thing the city needs is to spend money defending a worthless law that will get struck down anyway.

Wasn’t the purpose, in a nutshell, to fine people who leave guns in an unlocked vehicle or something? I don’t even know how you find that out until your gun is stolen. Do you call the police and report the guys that burgled your car and then they give you a fine or what?

Well it would fine anyone with a handgun in plain sight regardless of whether the vehicle is locked or not. I guess he expects the already understaffed SPD to look in people's vehicles while they are parked then wait to issue a fine.

I think I agree with the intent to keep people from being reckless leaving their guns in cars, but I don’t see a good way of even monitoring this. I like John but I’m not sure how I feel about this idea.

I got hold of Grayson told him it's a solid no for this one.

I shouldn't have to be a part in keeping a criminal from their criminal tendencies. Don't punish me because that guy over there wants to be a criminal. If someone breaks in to your car and takes anything, including a gun, then they get the punishment. Its simply not their property. Should be able to leave the doors unlocked. On a side note I looked at the lock on my glovebox and the latch is screwed to the plastic. Its harder to bust in a locked car than a glovebox. My wife's car center console is unlockable and she can't reach the glovebox from her side of the car being paraplegic. She keeps the gun on one of those Vulcan gun holders tucked under the steering wheel since she can't carry on her person yet (come on HB16).

Another side note. If I leave my gun or wallet tucked between the seat and a criminal just can't help themselves and steals it, how is that any different than the cops acting like prostitutes and walking the streets enticing people? Only difference is I get 1k fine and a record, the cop doesn't.
