You should probably have a look at comparative tax rates for the US and Japan.
I expect that will help you understand why things are as they are.
For example,
quote:
Japan: The country collects over 40% of its total tax revenue from social security contributions. Japan mandates a national pension (Nenkin) that all residents must pay into.
United States: Social security contributions account for 24% of total tax revenue, a lower share than the OECD average.
Just one small example.

Or we could look at budget expenditures instead since that makes 10 times more sense.
quote:
The federal government funds school lunch and breakfast programs at about 90,000 public and nonprofit private schools across the nation. The lunch program benefits 30 million children and will cost an estimated $17.4 billion in 2025, while the breakfast program benefits 16 million children and will cost $6.1 billion.
So between the lunch program and the breakfast program we're set to spend $23.5 billion. The FY 2025 budget is 6.6 trillion.
Let's say that the cost to get this implemented in all public schools is quadruple the current cost. Then let's just round it up to a clean 100 billion. We could easily offset that differential cost of ~$75 billion with fewer future expenditures on healthcare due to a healthier populace. And that's not to mention the multitude of other possible positive societal benefits that would come from the program.

It was too few words, because it wasn't enough for you to comprehend the point. His point is that giving people "free" stuff teaches them to rely on "free" stuff.

Typical - the status quo sucks but let's keep the status quo and then blame the entirety of it on minorities.
Why do white people have such terrible health in this country? Are the minorities forcing them to have bad eating habits?
Those darn statistics rear their ugly head yet again...

Nice word salad, Kamala.
You keep throwing out words with no real basis. For every point you make I can show you a country that does it better. Face it, the time of American greatness is waning.

So we should just give up completely and never try to improve anything?
No, we should try strategies that actually have a chance to work.
OR, we should stop making society responsible for individual's choices and let the natural consequences of their choices apply the needed motivation for change.
But, "We've got to do SOMEthing, reeeee," is the leftist recipe for additional unforced error problems on top of the ones we already have.

We could.
If it would actually lead to that. But it wouldn't.
Do you not realize we've tried this already? The kids threw the food in the trash. And that was with some relatively minor tweaks to the menu, not the massive overhaul you're advocating for.
What is your evidence that we could reasonably expect savings of $75 billion by doing what you want to do?

Yeah...so let's improve things
It seems like you're more concerned with being able to bitch about minorities than actually doing something that would improve lives for everyone
Weird take to be honest

The status quo of serving fast food in public schools seems to be working out great.

Remember Michelle Obama's nutritious and healthy school meal program?
None of the kids would eat it.
My kid was starving by the time football practice was over.

I'm not recommending that we implement anything remotely similar to that program
And obviously athletes in intense sports like football will require more calories than people in the chess club. Things could be done to account for athlete nutrition. It merely requires some simple problem solving. Which could be easily done if there is a nutrition specialist employed at each school.

Yeah her program was so bad kids would throw everything away versus eating the gruel she endorsed.

My take is maybe they should get their crap together. That would improve the lives for everyone.
