Mexico’s problems won’t stop until degenerates here stop doing drugs.

Correct

It would be much more beneficial to fix the problems with drugs on this side of the border

As long as there is demand the drugs will find a way here.

What is the estimated start date on this, exactly?

Happened in many stages.

But the period between 1913 and and 1964 seems to be the nail in the coffin.

We as a country suffered economically at home during WW2 to support the war effort in lands far away…we could do the same here to address illegal immigration and drugs/human trafficking…it would hurt alot $ but it would work.

Completely shut down the border in everything and watch how fast things change. No goods transfer ,no people vacationing, no more money being sent from families, businesses or government and within a month the problems should start to get sorted out

Mexico is actually our friend.

Mexican illegal immigration has been on a decline for some time. The current wave is Central (and now South) Americans

You need to get educated on these issues before you comment on them.

Americans did a lot of drugs prior to 1913, too.

I also agree that this was the result of WW2 support

Then the drugs will still flow.

That's how the vast majority of them are delivered to the US.

And we can exponentially increase inspections, scanners, and security by having a massive military presence on the border, instead of the federal boy scouts. We can dig a big fricking pit and shover every vehicle found to be transporting drugs into it, sending Americans walking north and Mexicans walking south. There's much than can be done at the border.

If we had a brain, we would close the border completely for 3 days, every time we catch a vehicle bringing drugs across. Within 6 months, Mexico would be inspecting every vehicle before it ever reaches our border. We can easily stand for the border to be completely closed longer than Mexico can stand it.

What were the numbers?

What are the suicide rates between then and now?

How does that period relate to the crisis of meaning?

This would, literally, destroy our economy.

Americans drowned themselves in alcohol in this period (and prior)

You're not going to find much good data on that, not that it's a meaningful datapoint anyway

This sounds like your own esoteric debate from which you started this argument.

The annual trade between the US and Mexico is around $850B, a sizeable portion of our GDP.

Constantly disrupting this by closing the border would be disastrous.

bullshite. We have spent trillions of dollars supporting their citizens. Some of whom come to this country and commit serious, heinous crimes against the American people.

Btw, I’m in favor of total drug legalization. But that won’t fix the problem either.

You tried to make it more analytical and then didn’t give me any data to work with.

a few days, it isn't like the long shoremen shut down large portions of shipping for a few weeks. Now that absolutely decimated us!

laredo is the busiest port in the country, without accounting for the drugs that come thru

shutting that down for a few hours would be a disaster.

for a board that whined about inflation for a few years, yall sure do love inflationary ideas

frick no. Didn't the first two decades of this century prove to you that playing whack-a-mole with insurgents doesn't work, and never will?

Would be an enormous waste of resources.

Who could take the economic hit more, the US or Mexico? Sounds like it would be damned important for Mexico to get their border shite together to me.
