a gram of cocaine costs the cartel ~$2 and sells for ~$80 in America after being stepped on several times
the profit is too high, there will always be someone willing to assume the risk

Which is why you complete a physical barrier between the two countries, and put the military on the border.

Iraq was nation-building, hearts and minds bullshite, half way around the world.
Only due to the vacuum created by killing the terrorists, and the new terrorists that were created and destabilize the region. You would have literally the same thing in Mexico and we would never be able to leave.
Also in Iraq we were at least able to militarily win build bases for operations. How would we even engage in this action?
This is also ignoring that we didn't really engage in trade or have a good relationship with Iraq prior to the invasion and Mexico is literally one of our closest allies and largest trading partners. The economic impact from declaring war on that Ally and trading partner would be substantially negative and unlike anything that we saw with Iraq

The day after 9/11, we shut down the Ports of Entry across the southern and northern borders for one whole day…and went to enhanced screening for a week.
The price of a kilo of cocaine literally doubled in price within days and by the time Bush ordered them back to “business as usual”, a kilo was selling for 3x at $30k in Dallas alone due to supply issues.
It showed how we could cripple the flow but Congress and Big Business (as well as US consumers) won’t stomach the $ hurt to get it done.

So no one travels between the two countries? No trucks for moving goods in commerce is allowed to go between the two countries?

Not initially; fire a few smart bombs from drones and then send some Marines in to clean up the place.

And what was the impact on all the other legal goods? I imagine those also increased substantially to correct?

This is impossible as long as we remain the big gay post-Christian liberal “democracy” that we are.
What is the estimated start date on this, exactly?
Started in earnest on December 23, 1913.

Spend a shite ton of tax payer money in an effort that will only make the cartels more money cause their margins would only get better

No bro we would not ultimately lose to Mexico.
That will never happen. Not a smart comment on your part

Cuba is like many European and Central American countries in economic crisis.

frick, you are awfully stupid for someone who pretends to be smart. If you build walls in your house, does that mean nobody can occupy the room you built? No, you put a door in that wall, so that only the people you invite can come in.

To mexico no
But to defend our border most difintely.

This is blowing up shite and killing people, practically on our doorstep. You're comparing apples and cowboy boots.

Then the drugs will still flow.
That's how the vast majority of them are delivered to the US.

Of course it did. The 3rd Law of Motion played out in economics.
We as a country suffered economically at home during WW2 to support the war effort in lands far away…we could do the same here to address illegal immigration and drugs/human trafficking…it would hurt alot $ but it would work.

Calling our enemies friends is exactly how we are in the situation we are now with China. Mexico is by no means one of our closest allies. They have been bilking our country out of trillions of dollars, and sending us their wretched refuse for decades now.

They might invade us first...
