Should states be allowed to elect all their congressmen at large?

Apparently Virginia used to operate that way.

California and New York should be the only ones voting in all elections and telling everyone else what is best for them.

Don’t forget Illinois

I would think any state who was a member of the Confederacy would be fighting a decades-long legal battle with the DOJ if they had at-large voting systems.

I’ll take ways to prove to everyone that I’ve never read the constitution for $500, Alex.

No, as the point of districts is to have a representative who belongs to each area.
You do At Large districts in California and you end up with 50 reps split between LA and San Fran with possibly some for San Diego and other associated metro areas. No one covers the sticks.
If Florida did this, the greater Miami area (Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, etc) would be over represented due to frickery by the elections supervisors there while the Panhandle gets fricked.
The only states this MIGHT work in would be 4-5 EV states like Maine or New Hampshire where it’s possible for two individuals to actually represent the whole state.

This would stop Democratic gerrymandering, which creates Black Districts for Dem's. I know, when I was active, I served on a committee twice that created Black Districts. Of course, I kept telling them this will leave white districts for the GOP leftover. They wanted two Black districts, even if it left 6 white ones.

There are some interesting ideas that could replace 'winner take all' distortions, such as ranked choice voting.

My body is willing.

I'd keep an open mind.
'Winner take all' has certainly distorted the electoral college and is distorting the representative districts.

Hell no.
Large states include totally different issues.
And Los Angeles county would control all the representatives.
Los Angeles county is 10 million.

Maybe you leave your little progressive ideas at the door.
Our system has worked. I don't know about this penny drive voting process. No names, ID. The idea of dragging people to the polls, filling out their ballots...forcing uninformed dummies to vote is Not good for the country - on either side.
