Should AGI be a bigger mainstream topic?

I read an article recently interviewing some MIT dude. Can't find the link, but essentially AGI now is like Google and social media 20 years ago. In 20-25 years from now it is going to dominate our lives the same our current technology does. The majority of current jobs will eventually become obsolete. Even Elon Musk, who loves technological progress has shown concern for where it is heading. The freakiest part is the neuro link chip implants that will turn people into super processors.

It's dangerous to talk too much about it. Especially on this board.

Given that many "news" sites already use rudimentary AI to write "news" stories, I'd say its a big deal already. What you know and understand about the world is already the product of an algorithm controlled by megacorp USA.

Jobs will change.
As long as government doesn't meddle, the market will take care of it.

6 or 7 years ago all the 18 wheelers were going to be self-driving in "10 years"
think they will dominate in 3 or 4 years?

The level of brute force inundation it takes to make someone believe this is simply unimaginable.
In the future, comments like this will be AI driven, designed to assuage fears about machine algorithms dominating the public consciousness.

There will be no "off the grid" in an AI dominated world.

Hey Burger, WHY CAN'T YOU SAY WHAT AGI IS IN THE ORIGINAL POST??????? They abbreviate all you want afterwards. Why make people have to google search stuff for no reason?

We can't even get autocorrect spelling right. We're a long way from sentience.

Yeah, I wrestle with that one too often.
