I don't think any of their socialists have the personality/appeal of a guy like Bernie (just as he lacked it early in his career) to do the right-populism thing.

The Democrat establishment rejected the progressive / socialist left wing in 2016 and 2020 by rigging against Bernie a fair shot in the primaries. You could argue that those disenfranchised white male Bernie bro voters cost Hillary in 2016 general vs Trump.
In 2020? Biden was the centrist pick that the establishment choose and rejected Bernie, Kamala and Warren. AOC got denied a committee seat just this year.
But due to progressives being disappointed Obama didnt pass many progressive acts as he portrayed to do, after 2016 you begin to see the social justice and LGBT wing of the party took over . Democrats did win a trifecta in 2020
Instead of reining them in after winning 2020, Biden choose to listen to the progressives during his term and ended up with low approval ratings and Kamala lost. Sinema and Manchin stopped alot of his left wing proposes agenda as well.
