There is zero doubt that we are not allowing a level playing field.

- We all like free trade but it's never really free. So we use tariffs to find fair trade in the concept of Free Trade ideals.

We are constantly seeing stores close. The store fronts can not compete. Why? TAXES.

To have a store front:

- Lease fees.
- City taxes...
- State taxes...
and more.

Are we really willing to say that the Amazon's of the world should be allowed a different set of rules?

This is a starting point, I hope, of a serious question before we see towns become ghosts and run downed building collapsing due to lack of a level playing field.

National Retail Sales Tax upon repeal of the 16th Amendment and abolishment of the IRS and we're cooking with gas.

This is the same dumb argument cab drivers made about Uber. Instead of asking to lessen the their own regulations they asked that Uber be regulated the same way they were.

JJ, Amazon buys (or leases) their massive distribution centers for supply chain and logistics. Leases and property taxes, baw.

Welcome to 2005!

I get sales tax on my Amazon purchases... it was massively late and agree they should definitely not be immune to that. If it’s not universal in the US it should be.

Amazon wins over small stores just like Wally World does.

Buying in volume gives lower prices and they have virtually anything you are looking for. No B&M store can do that.

Also, a lot of the stuff on there is only fulfilled by Amazon. A company ships a pile of stuff to Amazon and pays a fee for them to list it and ship it. Amazon doesn't own that inventory.

Still amazed at the apparently low rates they get for shipping. Without that they wouldn't be winning quite as easily.

I pay sales tax on internet purchases. Our state passed a law a couple of years ago. Any business doing at least $250,000 per year in sales and no presence in our state must collect sales tax. Is this what you are even talking about?

Actually no. That's not being stated at all. It has zero to do with regulations and more to do with taxes and how allowing loopholes effect local economies.

So close up smaller towns and cities all across the USA because they avoid things others can't.

I'm seeing more and more of this trend, and it's the new China model. They have a Gov advantage.

What about the town you are living in?

1- Jobs lost
2- Taxes lost

Explain how they will make up the lost revenue?

1- Can cities tax Amazon?
2- Can they tax for access to the online store?
3- If not.... are you willing to see the fall out for it?

These are serious things that need to be talked about.
