serious question for lawyers about chauvin trial

why do they have a jury thats 100% biased from an area he cant get a fair jury from?
i thought the defendant had a choice of jury trial or just the judge rules?
it seems as a matter of just the law without feelings and liberal prejudice being involved that a judge deciding guilt or innocence based solely on the law and requiring he defend his opinion based on the law would be the only smart way to go in kangaroo trials like this
can someone explain why he wasnt allowed to pass on having a very biased and MSM threatened and pressured jury decide his fate?

I guess he didn't think it was worth the risk for the bench trial. You only need one out of 12 to say not guilty to save you with hung jury.

I think you kind of answered your own question. Apparently the defense thought it could seat a favorable or at least fair jury there. I don't recall there being a motion to move the case.

Definitely better with a jury.

They actual did ask for it to be moved after the city awarded money to the family.

Moving it in Minnesota would be tough.
Rochester I guess. Not sure where you would move it to outside of the Twin Cities.
All kinds of hell likely if they would have moved it to Duluth or Mankato or Red Wing or somewhere like that.

Judge should have granted change of venue (or brought a jury in from out of town).
Jury should have been sequestered from the start.
A lot of the evidence/testimony for the prosecution should not have been allowed (e.g., Floyd's brother).
Should have granted mistrial because of fricking Maxine Waters (the fact he noted it would be an issue for appeal was an admission).
