The Capitol Hill neighborhood is a real up-and-coming area. Market values rising pretty rapidly in recent years. Frankly, $900K is not outrageous, depending on location, etc. And private sales like this are not uncommon in DC area (especially for those moving within the same area); we bought our current house that way.
And since he's already announced he's not running again, probably part of his exit/retirement strategy....he'll be gone in a couple of years.

This dude is a total shite bag, but this sounds like they're making something out of nothing by stretching the facts. I'd bet these kinds of deals aren't really uncommon.

Agreed. A great location in DC brings a premium. They're making a mountain out of a molehill here.

I'll start caring about this shite with Burr the exact second that some 'journalists' start digging into little donkeys with the same vigor. Which will be NEVER.

Well that settles it, since its "in the area" it must be an expensive home, while you are at it Id like to sell you a home in the "vicinity of the garden district".

Some of you are missing the point, there are 330 million people in the US and you sell your home "off market" to a lobbyist with issues pending in front of your various committees?

Surely you aren't suggesting real estate prices in the DC area haven't risen.
