Senate Democrats dig in for shutdown fight over DACA

LINK

Senate Democrats are digging in to oppose a stopgap spending bill that would avert a government shutdown Friday, convinced they’ve got the upper hand in the budget battle and can force a deal to save “Dreamers” from deportation.

The Republican majorities in the House and Senate are advancing the stopgap bill, known as a continuing resolution or CR, that would give lawmakers 28 days to finalize the budget and fix the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA program that is providing temporary deportation amnesty.

Shutting down FedGov to protect illegal immigrants is not going to go over well in mid terms.

Dems have gone off of the deep end on this stuff. Seriously, shut down government for not helping ILLEGAL immigrants? You know, those who are in this country by BREAKING THE LAW?

Lack of logic has no bounds with these people

They know the media will scream "shithole" and either try to blame it on Trump or downplay the impact of the shutdown.

We are about to find out if they really care about the dreamers, or was all that talk just a bunch of bullshite.

Ironically, that will backfire once again on them as well.

Exactly. The Dems could have DACA in exchange for border security. It's a reasonable compromise. Protect the law abiding ones here (law abiding other than their illegal status) and prevent more from coming here illegally.

They are the minority party they can't get all that they want. They're lucky they were offered anything

It shouldn’t. However, I’m sure money will be raised and used on more propaganda campaigns. This will lead the sheep to believe it’s all fault of the POTUS and the R’s.

And, the lying, thieving dem’s will keep getting votes.

This will not change. At least until people wake up and realize that not one thing good for any of our communities has been brought about by any liberal policy.

If they do this, they are digging in against middle America to protect coastal interest. Essentially doubling down on their policies from 2016.

That may work in New Jersey and California, but it is going to infuriate a lot of people in between. They need Michigan, Ohio, and Missouri as much as they need Boston, NYC, and San Francisco.

This is exactly what they're counting on.

Of course the media will do their best to spin this as Trump and the Republicans fault.

Why must the Democrats always be the adults in the room? Let the "freedom" caucus, Cruz, and whomever, back off this time.

What use is having Republicans in charge of both chambers of Congress and the Presidency if they can’t pass a simple majority vote?

House Freedom Caucus is responsible for a shutdown just as much as Democrats.

The GOP controls both sides of congress and the White House and may still fail to keep the government open. Yes, it’s the Dems are who look bad here
