In a 52-45 party-line vote Wednesday, the Senate confirmed President Trump’s nominee to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The confirmation of California lawyer Kenneth Lee marked the first time neither home-state senator had returned a blue slip, a Senate tradition in which the home-state senator gives their opinion of the nominee, the Hill reported.

I am glad Trump is having none of this BS where a Senator would block someone that they didn't like. Trump will change the make up of the 9th circus.

ETA: The Turtle also deserves credit.

Good. The 9th Circuit desperately needed to have its reset button hit.

If for nothing else, this is why you vote for the bad orange man in 2020.

This can secure the integrity of the constitution for a generation.

So does the author of this article think this position at court is only ruling on laws that affect California? Not the way it works.

Did Montana's, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona's senators get blue slips as well? Or is this something that liberal Californians thought they got to control over the rest of the 9th circuit jurisdiction? Or is it simply that the "home" state of the judge? That's crap, how do you get federal appeals court experience in states with no federal appeals court?

I think we can agree that this "blue slip" nonsense is just another in a long line of ways that the coastal/high population states have systematically wrested power from the less populous states. It has no place in the Senate.

9th Circuit still have 25 liberal judges serving. Trump stays for 8 yrs. He can put 8 to 10 more on 9th Circuit.

GOP Congress could have done this long ago but was 1) scared 2) needing a boogeyman for its voters.

Congress controls the courts and their makeup.
