There is a 0% chance they don't know who it was.

It's like when they're out in public mid-tantrum. If they don't have something to chant, they don't know how they feel on a given matter.

They couldn't do this because then it would've incorporated everyone who cleared the schmuck to have access to this part of the White House.

The cameras could easily let them generate a "short list," but they might still be unable to narrow that list to a single culprit.
Hank, do you believe that? Man, I just can't accept that. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would expect they have multiple cameras recording every second in every room at different angles. They can probably see every inch of each room from any direction.

That would be a very reasonable theory, if Hunter lived in the building.
As is, the man lives on the beach in California. It would be much easier for him to just collect his coke off-premises.
But, again, reasonable theory in the abstract.
So lets go with that. I'm fine with it not being Hunters, but do you honestly believe that the most secure house in the world this could happen and they not know who brought it in?

Well, that didn't stop the FBI from jailing Jan 6 people.
1. Gather short list.
2. Drug test short list.
3. Positive for Cocaine?
4. Your guy.

People here seem to believe that every person entering the WH is subjected to a CAT scan and cavity search every time they enter the premises. They aren't. There is a list of hundreds of people that are subjected to a VERY minimal examination, once they are vetted.
So, exactly what happened with THIS tiny bag of cocaine? No one knows at this point, obviously, but my inference from the location (phone cubby) is that someone (with clearance) was carrying that little bag in his pocket and accidentally removed it when removing his phone. The camera would not necessarily have "seen" the little bag. Maybe it was "under" the phone. Maybe it was stuck to the phone with static electricity. There are DOZENS of ways that a camera 20 feet away might not detect a bag less than an inch square.
I am 100% certain that they have a short list of people who were in the area and MIGHT be the culprit. Probably a VERY short list. And it would not surprise me in the slightest if they are not able to whittle that list down to the individual culprit ... absent some sort of enhanced interrogation.
And pragmatically they are not going to do that to powerful people over a tiny bag of cocaine.
Feel free to disagree. I won't insult you for seeing the matter differently ... only if you refuse to acknowledge that the analysis is JUST as reasonable as yours.

“At this time, the Secret Service’s investigation is closed due to a lack of physical evidence,” the Secret Service said in a statement.
The Secret Service told lawmakers that it had a list of roughly 500 suspects that includes both staff and visitors.
But their investigation on who deposited the cocaine at that location or when it was left there was “inconclusive,” according to Oversight Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), who attended the briefing.
Same .Gov that kind find granny from Alabama near the capitol building among thousands of people.
