The "blessing" is minimal, akin to Happy Ramadan, although it's weird that the school district wants the teachers to say the blessing in Arabic. Not scheduling tests during Ramadan is more problematic IMO. What are your thoughts on this? 1st Amendment violation, or much ado about nothing?

quote:

A school district in Seattle has sent out a letter asking teachers to bless its Muslim students in Arabic during the month of Ramadan and give them preferential treatment, such as obtaining dispensations for classes and exams, reports Fox News.

In response to the letter, the religious liberty legal defense group Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund (FCDF), has threatened the Dieringer School District with a potential lawsuit for violating the conscience of its employees. FCDF alleges that the district followed edicts put forward by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) that advises schools to accommodate Muslim students by wishing them "Ramadan Mubarak" (Happy Ramadan) or "Ramadan Kareem" (Have a generous Ramadan). The edicts also instruct teachers to respect the Ramadan fast by not scheduling any tests during the holidays of Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha

Then they should do the same for the holy period of Lent for Christians.

Yet another discomfiting bit of Seattle news the week before I visit there with the family for the first time.

Starting to re-think this trip

When schools, politicians, and teachers have done everything they can to remove God and prayer from schools. I think they all can suck arse for suggesting muslims need to be blessed during ramadan.

Liberal logic - can't say Merry Christmas; can advocate Muslim faith.

What is the obssession between leftists and Muslims?

Why do they kiss their butt so much? Just so they can virtue signal that they are diverse and that the Muslims vote Democrat?

Can they stone a girl who wears a short skirt and throw a phag off of the school building roof?

I mean, let’s REALLY embrace them!

Seattle isn't too bad to visit. Just watch out for the beggars and needles if you're downtown. The tourists spots are usually kept pretty clean though.

I wouldn't move to Seattle even if they paid Miss Universe to be my live-in maid.

I’ll be there at the same time. I actually liked Seattle last time I was there. Hope it hasn’t gone too far of the rails.

Leftists will say that stuff like this is OK because the Constitution says "separation of church and state" (it doesn't, but never mind) not separation of mosque and state.

I'm there at least twice a year because the wife is from there and still has all her family there. It's not bad at all if you're just visiting. Now if you were to live there....that's a whole other thing.

Same as when you miss school for athletics or any other reason. You're free to miss it, but you are responsible for the work and taking tests when you return.

My wife had an opportunity to apply for a job in Seattle.

I told her she may meet a new soy laden husband there.
