Ya know, the president isn't required to appear before congress to present a State of the Union address. He fulfills the State of the Union obligation by simply preparing a letter and having it delivered to congress. Maybe he ought to consider that option and let the bastards stew in their seats for awhile until they realize that's all they're getting and there will be no personal appearance or speech.
