Pedophilia is a sexual preference

Yeah... no it isn't.
Really?
quote:
Your preference is to diddle little kids? Yeah... we are going to kill you. Prefer that. Not even interested a little bit in finding out why you prefer them, understanding why you prefer them or anything of the sort.
You're not good at this at all...

BTW, a timely anecdote:
My wife likes to watch Law & Order SVU. That's the one where the cops deal with sex crimes.
I used to watch it with her a long time ago. The show was better and although they would sometimes inject politics, it was nothing like it later became. Now the leftist propaganda is insufferable and kills any enjoyment I might have so I no longer watch.
In the early days of the show the detectives frequently alluded to the fact that pedophiles are essentially not redeemable or capable of being rehabilitated. And they always regarded them with contempt.
Well, I'm going back and forth this afternoon through the den while she's catching up on the episode that just aired on Thursday. Two days ago.
At some point I realize that there is a subplot they are working in this episode. One of the main characters notices a guy staring at little girls in his neighborhood and investigates him, eventually getting him fired from his substitute teaching job.
The guy comes to the police station, breaks down in tears, tells the SVU character that he was right, that he has always been attracted to minor girls but has never acted on his impulses in any way, and asks for help.
The SVU detectives take him to a pedo group therapy session and wish him luck. The overall attitude is that the guy is a decent guy with a problem and that everyone should admire him for wanting help and not wanting to harm children.
Basically, a long way toward exactly what the video in this thread is selling.
Now.
Unless you have been in a coma for around 50 years you know that the left has gradually and effectively infiltrated the three biggest thought influencers in the country:
1. Academia
2. Mainstream media
3. Entertainment industry
The leftist nonsense almost always starts in academia and flows downstream to the other two influencers, where it is disseminated to the general public who have already been through college or who never went.
The TED Talk is academia. And remember, that TED Talk is a few years old, I'm pretty sure. Which means the ideas have been out there in academia for a while before the TED Talk was given.
Law & order SVU is entertainment.
This narrative is right on schedule.
Under normal circumstances I'd give it 1-2 years before becoming a fully mainstream opinion (not pedophilia en toto, that will take longer. But pedophiles being sympathetic victims instead of predators.)
Then somewhere during that time frame, or maybe right after, we'll start hearing that studies indicate that children aren't harmed by consensual sexual interactions with adults, that it can actually be beneficial for them (same thing NAMBLA has been saying forever). Another 3-5 years and you'll start seeing teen-age Star Wars or other Disney characters having sexual relationships with adult characters. Then they'll work their way down to tweeners, then pre-teens.
Idiots in Oregon and Washington and similar bastions of nonsense will start changing laws to accomodate the "science."
That would be under normal circumstances.
But I think (hope) Trump and team are really going to disrupt the SOP involved here. They're already threatening to completely break the mainstream news outlets and they've announced changing universities back to institutions of learning rather than institutions of indoctrination.
So it may go differently from here. We can hope.
One more thing.
Not that I want to stir this back up with SFP—I came back to the thread to share the anecdote—but he's made the claim on here that most pedophiles are victims of abuse themselves.
A quick Google search makes me believe that that claim is simply not true.
I would investigate that one for yourself before buying it.
