Amplification of lies and constant manufactured crises via MSM and social media has been so effective that the manipulabe people have parroted their phobia of Trump incessantly. This has been so ubiquitous for so long that it has bled into the ethos of the left, to the point where even people believed to be intelligent and reasonable seem to have lost their minds.

That's my take on TDS.

Sam Harris, for all his IQ, is a dumb shite. This board has a history of kissing his arse. This is what one gets when they latch on to another who occasionally spouts a crumb of truth.

A man who agrees with me 75% of time probably isn't my enemy, but the man who agrees with me 10% of time almost certainly is. Pointing out that Islam is violent is a low bar and no guarantee that the person is sensible on other issues.

I honestly had to look up who this pompous arse is. Now, I can forget what I regrettably took the few seconds to learn.

If Americans can't see whats happening, the divide, the rhetoric, the fear from the left, then, they're just frick'n stupid. That goes for both sides, what ever that is.

It’s what’s so frustrating about him. He sees and knows what’s going on. Again, he’d agree with us at least on 80% of what we say, it’s just he can’t look past Trump’s personality. Like his latest podcast addressing Trump, he agrees with all of his policies save for tax… so you’re our ally whether you like it or not. But he can’t let go of the Orange Man. Sam Harris defends Ron DeSantis and would be fine with him as President, and DeSantis has almost all of Trump’s policies.

I am not sure if Sam Harris is lying to himself at this point, or trying to prop up his reputation.

Lying to himself. He keeps on trying to justify his policies that would end in tyranny, and it’s simply over a single person’s character.

About the only thing I can think of that Sam doesn't take a woke stance on is Islam. Even he admits that while Christianity might believe in myths, they're no where near as destructive as what Islam believes in.

He’s not Woke at all. He’d agree with everything you have to say about the Woke. It’s all Trump’s character that blinds him. He, Maher, and Sullivan should voting Republican at this point, but his TDS is stronger than his moral compass.

Sam Harris basically has a bigger problem with Trump than his “character”. He believes Trump is a dangerous dummy who has dragged America down to his level. He also went in record saying he’s not a Biden or Clinton fan.

Him and Andrew Sullivan almost convinced me to vote for Hillary in 2016. They did a six hour podcast together pretty much addressed to people like me acknowledging what a monster Hillary Clinton is and then saying even with that why Trump would still be worse even if Hillary is more evil. It was a respectable argument, but obviously both of them have dropped that at this point. Thank God I instead stayed at home rather than vote for that witch.

He also said that he agreed with policies on the right and the left.

Last week he pretty much said he agreed with all of Trump’s policies. That next level TDS when you say basically all of his policies are good yet he’s still the biggest threat this country has ever faced.

I never suggested he was, I just don’t think he’s in rarified air. He’s not particularly intellectually curious or capable of introspection like Peterson, he’s certainly not a visionary like Jobs or Musk. He’s well above average but I could go to any of several top ten universities and pluck his equal or better out of grad school. He’s on the far right side of the bell curve, no question, but he’s not in the section that his standing would suggest. He’s celebrity-smart, like Black Science Man.

well said. I can find a subset of my colleagues with an active interest in philosophy that are just capable as Harris in engaging in a discourse trying to understand the world around us and are more well read on the literature to foster an even deeper conversation. Which I guess goes back to my point, I find it odd that this dude is propped up on a pedestal, and do not see why I or anyone else should care about his insights more than one any of those aforementioned colleagues.

Is being able to keep your cool in the face of opposition and talking in a calm voice really such a rare trait that this implies an a priori authority behind your opinions? I don’t think so even if it is a good trait to have, and when you get past his decorum and into the meat of his ideas I just don’t see what is so interesting there.
