2. Position some naval assets in the Black Sea or the at least the Eastern Med.

3. Conduct large scale military exercises in neighboring NATO countries like Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey.

I'd say yup, but we already have large scale military "exercises" going on in neighboring Afghanistan...the Russians are well aware of our capabilities.

1. Restart missile defense efforts in Eastern Europe. And not under the guise of countering Iran. Make it plain that we feel Russia is a threat and the missile defense is there to counter their aggression.

We should have never stopped them. Huge mistake.

2. Ask what's left of Ukraine to join the NATO.

This should happen tomorrow, frankly.

3. Make permanent and expand the the Black Sea Rotational Force aimed at training Eastern European militaries.

yup

Non-interventionism resulted in the largest war in human history.

Harsh economic sanctions after WWI coupled with retarded fiscal policy cause the collapse of Germany's economy and the rise of the Third Reich. I could argue that interventionalists policies caused WWII.

I'll ask again how not knowing the best course of action in a tense global conflict makes my criticism of Obama hypocritical.

That's like saying I'm a hypocrite when I get pissed that a player on my fantasy baseball team goes a week without a home-run since I didn't hit a home-run either.

Your criticism smacks of partisan politics. There realistically isn't anything Obama can do to eject the Russians from Ukranian territory short of war.

You well know this.

Diplomacy, or the lack there of needs to play out.

Frankly, we need to recall our ambassador or expel theirs. Things like that send messages in diplomatic circles.

This is a complete dumbing down of foreign policy. Are you serious?

Yes, it is. We can play this game all day. The fact is...you don't mess with an ally of the United States and not expect some form of retaliation.

There are examples of countries threatening or militarily crossing sovereign lines and the US not doing anything militarily. The reason we DO act is because SUPPOSEDLY we are protecting US interests.

No one is arguing this. We're simply saying we should move into a threatening posture instead of clicking our heels and hoping the problem fixes itself.

We should move a carrier group into the Black Sea, announce the opening of a new NATO military base in Poland, re-start and expand the missile shield program in Eastern Europe, and also propose and enact tough economic sanctions on Russia. That's how you deter a nation without going Rambo on them.

the rhetoric from the Obama Administration has been some apologizing for US wrongs and resetting foreign relations with slightly to extremely hostile countries.

After Afganistan we had the world in our pocket.

Then we invaded Iraq.

Yeah we owed the world a few apologies.

Also one tangible change from Bush to Obama was the removal of the Polish Shield. And that's a huge one.

We agree on this. Huge fricking mistake...i thought it at the time and still do.

And you make it very very easy.

So you're trolling . . . . again.

good to know.

Huh?? Russia has numerous other ports on the Black Sea, including Sochi, where the Winter Olympics were just held.

None of Russia's Western ports are as deep, defensible, or geographically ideal as Sevastopol. The Russians fought tooth and nail to get that lease after 1989.

I'm all for having a presence where there may be an issue with US interest so I would certainly do this, and I'm sure we are.

Who is gonna foot that cost I wonder? Hell no.

If cuts are made elsewhere and there is shared costs associated with it, certainly.

The US alone can't do this, it won't effect anything. And Russia's exports are mostly natural gas and Oil which Europe is DEPENDENT ON.

If anything, long term we need to tap our oil and gas reserves immediately AND eliminate our deficit and drastically lower our debt. Those are bigger threats to our national security than 2014 Russia IMO.

That's your false perception. I was pissed Bush remained in Beijing when Putin did the same shite in Georgia.

Putin has now managed to embarrass two consecutive American Presidents. Maybe Hillary can offer another "reset" if she's elected in 2016.

You really do come up with simplistic and useless analogies. Do you honestly need someone to point out the numerous differences?
