Until the MIG debacle Poland wanted all the smoke, they were going out of their way to let Russia know it was their shite killing Russians

Poland has a legitimate concern on giving away all of their MIGs. If shite hit the fan, we would not be able to backfill them with F-16's in the short-term. It will be years, and most of the ones currently in production are already promised to other nations like Taiwan.

ETA: I will leave my prior post, however I just saw in the last hour that Poland announced it is offering to transfer its MIG-29's to the United States.

Which is precisely why I expect some type of staged event that serves as pretext for NATO to engage.

One thing this has showed me is that Russia as a military was given way too much credit. There equipment and readiness is woefully inadequate. I suspect that China is even worse off as many of the issues in Russia is because of Chinese parts. I firmly believe even more so now that the superior equipment of the west would win against either Russia or China.

the official narrative is Russia is getting held back by a ragtag group of Ukraine Freedom fighters. Russia is on its heels in this fight. Also Russia wants to attack NATO.

No doubt.

And I don't want my confidence in NATO's ability to frick up the Russian military to come across as me wanting NATO or the US to get involved in any capacity where our troops are getting shot at in Europe. That's the last thing I want.

Putin had a press conference with female reporters today and unlike Potato, he takes questions and gives coherent answers. This is part of what he said.

quote:

That is why our General Staff and the Ministry of Defense decided on a different strategy. First that was done is the elimination of the military infrastructure. Not entirely, but largely. The weapon depots, ammunition depots, aviation, air defense systems. The destruction of the air defense systems requires certain time. You are civilians but you do work in aviation.

quote:

I repeat one more time: we will not deploy draftees or reservists to Ukraine to participate in this military operation. I am convinced that our army will achieve all our objectives. I do not doubt that for a second. This is evident from the way the operation is proceeding, which is strictly according to the plan, to the schedule; all is happening the way it had been planned by the General Staff.

Zalenski when he addressed British Parliament today claimed they have already killed 10.000 Russian troops.

Who would you believe?

The irony is that we have the second largest air force in the world resting in the Arizona desert.

I’ll go with 99%, but I agree with your premise.

Yeah, I mean if they did hit Poland, it seems like NATO (US) would crush them and have the support of the people for once.

Seems dumb, but I am no Tom Clancy

BUMP to reply to Squirrel here who doesn't believe anything except for what the Russians and Putin say.

Here's his post from two days ago (which we can see a few posts up if this thread hasn't been anchored):

I'll admit that the 10,000 troops killed coming from Ukraine is inflated. But he takes Mr. Putin at his word when he says conscripts and reservists won't be used...

Well, about that...

Russia Admits Conscripts 'Take Part' in Ukraine Operation

quote:

The Russian army on Wednesday admitted for the first time that conscripts were taking part in Moscow's military advance in Ukraine, after President Vladimir Putin vowed only professional soldiers were there.

quote:

On Monday, Putin said he will not send conscripts or reservists to fight in Ukraine and that only "professional" soldiers were taking part in the conflict.

quote:

The Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, said on Wednesday that some conscripts had been captured by Ukrainian forces.

"Unfortunately, several instances of the presence of conscripts in the units of the Russian Armed Forces participating in the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine have been confirmed," he said.

Damn. Everything going to the plan...
