Very persuasive argument.

Combined with Zelensky's endless grift, it really seems likely that Ukraine is winning. I mean, why beg for $110B and the US's most advanced weapons systems if you're not already kicking the hell out of your opponent?

You should be a trial lawyer. Juries would be dazzled by your rhetorical skills.

The US hypersonic missile program is far ahead of where you think it is at this time.

Just say this if one hits a ship it is gone be it a Super US CV or a small light armor Russian frigate.

The problem with modern warfare is the speed of getting the tech to the field and by that time it is likely not cost effective or has the ability to do it job.

Our Navy has many built in problems, the Russian Navy has huge holes in many different departments, and it does not help the person in charge wants the Navy to grow and has no long-range plan of objectives and planning.

Only if you believe that the extent of our hypersonic program is contained in public information. Russia releases a positive test as propaganda.

You only hear about developmental US weapons when they fail or lag behind their procurement schedule.

Your belief system fascinates me.

I study the history of designs of ships from the wooden 1720's until today, this I cannot believe how depended on the US Navy has fallen into the design the ship around the weapon system.

I cannot tell of all the mistakes on ship design and task has fallen into politics deals that are affecting our Navy. There should have been more testing on the failures of the designs of late and overreach of unproven tech being used in the designs.

The conflict is nearly ten years old and the recent escalation more than a year old.

If that's beating someone soundly I'd hate to see a more even match.

No, but the 22 is the best fighter in the sky, and we've got a fair amount of them, and we can actually fight them if we need to, and keep them in the fight.

Has Russia even really established air superiority over Ukraine yet?

When we went into Iraq, we basically had the skies in 10 hours.

Nobody should underestimate the Russian military. They could land nuclear warheads on our soil if they wanted to and their country is unconquerable. I just don't think that Russias modern hardware should be our big concern.

I don't know how much time you've spent in Russia but having gone through it multiple times most of it is just ... land. With a ton of different people who really don't care much about Russia itself.

I'm sure it was unconquerable in 1700 but it wouldn't be a difficult task today.

None. I do work with some native Russians though.

Idk about that. It's huge. I'm sure it could be done if a USA or NATO were committed enough to do it but realistically, it's just too damn big with too bad of weather.

If nothing else, Ukraine is a great proving ground for both our stuff and their stuff. And as long as Ukrainians are good with being on the business end of both, I say we arm the shite out of them.

The liberals have completely become neocon warhawks.

This is too good to be true

Meh, Russia doesn't have a true hypersonic missile. It has to reach high altitude like a ballistic missile and uses the earth's gravity to gain hypersonic speed. The only nation to actual successfully test an actual hypersonic missile is the USA. That being said, their missile can change direction after being launched with a guidance system.

It was cheaper using Russia to hitch rides on. Their space agency lost 50 billion Rubbles this year due no business from others.

No they do not have an actual hypersonic missile. It is a ballistic missile using the earth's gravity to gain hypersonic speed. It does have a guidance system to change course.

I get it, those are good points, but I'll counter a little bit with the following:

F22 is amazing, but it still has readiness issues, which would be compounded in a forward environment, flying combat sorties. When they tested the F117, one day it's radar signature blew up. They went out to the plane and found one fastener had come loose. Maintenance on the F22, to prevent that sort of thing, is quite extensive and time consuming. I think we would struggle with availability, it's just the nature of the beast with these platforms.

Russia has attained pretty good superiority in the air.

Air superiority in Iraq is not like it would be against the Russians. Lots of variables, but I think NATO would have to decapitate Russian air defenses on the first strike.
