Money used to pay furloughed employees would be forgiven completely.

This makes zero sense if you don't want to increase debt.

If I'm a low wage worker and am working full time to earn a >$1000 paycheck for 80 hours of work, I'm royally pissed that I'm earning less than the people who are on vacation

Rubio was given the cuckoid label on this board, but the guy is always trying to come up with rational solutions. Even out of the box solutions sometimes.

he's got common sense, which is more than can be said for 90% of washington.

If I’m a business owner, why not pocket the money, close shop, wait this out and get cheaper rent/employees/everything in the coming recession?

Then you would still have to pay it back with interest.

You're just delaying it is all. And increasing the severity of when it does actually happen.

Sounds good to me. It's better than sending everyone a $1k check whether they need it or not. Some people actually have needs while others are still working like normal and aren't facing any hardships other than having to work from home or bring their kids to work.

I agree. I am still working as of today but if I wasn't I am good. I could go a long time with no effects without a income. I realize some can't because of the point in life they are at. Such as being young and just getting started in life so they are living tight. Other I don't give a damn about because their situation is because of poor life choices. Now I will take the money but what sucks is that I will get the short end of the stick because I am single and I work everyday so my check with be little. But when they come to get the money back in taxes I will get hit twice as hard because of the same reasons stated above. I wish they had a "Nah I am good option" and you didn't have to pay any extra taxes later.

I wonder if independent contractors are covered by this proposal.

Explain to me how creating and then forgiving debt is a good idea? You must support forgiving student loans then as well, right?
