'Roseanne' second season to be devoid of any reference to trump

Trump supporters desperate to see themselves in popular culture wound up celebrating a show that actually did little to represent their political sensibilities.
ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey told me last week the show has no plans to revisit its Trumpian conflicts next season. "I think [the show's writers] are going to continue on the path that they were on toward the latter part of this season, which is away from politics and more focused on family," she said during a conference call, essentially acknowledging the bait and switch in a torrent of TV executive speak.
Reviving Roseanne Conner as a Trump supporter never made much sense to me, anyway. In the original show, Roseanne was always calling out men over the kind of knuckleheaded, entitled behavior that Trump embodied in the infamous Access Hollywood video. Why would she suddenly overlook actions like that now?
Then there's the subject of race. Trump regularly says things that sound bigoted, seemingly with little concern for appearances. The old-school Roseanne cared enough about subtle forms of racism that it spent an entire episode exploring whether Roseanne and husband, Dan, had unwittingly passed along anti-black prejudices to their son, D.J., when he refused to kiss a black girl during a school play. (And, yes, it's a cool irony that D.J. now has a black wife and biracial kid in the reboot.)
Sorry, Trumpkins

Future headline - “Rosanne cancelled after second season ratings tank. Fox in negotiations to bring the show onboard.”

This is the entire reason middle America likes the show, dumbass.

They haven't mentioned his name once. Who gives a shite?
The show is actually funny so that's why people watch it. They toned down all the political stuff after the first episode and only flirt with sensitive political topics here and there.

Who knew you gays were such intolerant people that you had to dictate the content of a tv show you claim to not care about

family centered is about as pro trump of a base target you can get.
This isn't what you think it is.

Trumpkins desperate to see themselves in popular culture do.
That was pretty evident with all the Roseanne praise and rating smack talk on here during the first season.

Bizarre that NPR deemed this news-worthy.

Why do different ideas scare you so much?

Funny how the show blew up with the premiere because of the Trump support but as people watched and saw it wasn't really very conservative (the tranny kid did it for us) it has flopped considerably.

It’s way more sad that you think a show not mentioning “Trump” is a “win” somehow tbh
