I’m ok with this since he served 8 years. Was not a slap on the wrist.

Do we really want to see liberal Democrat gangsters profit personally from the sale of vacated Senate seats?

Agreed.

Wait, what? Can you describe a mechanism that would provide justice for some by circumventing justice for others? It seems like these kinds of pardons would simply embolden more liberal democrat gangsters.

This just smells bad, real bad, and lends credence to my suspicion that there really is no difference between Democrats and Republicans. I also don't see how this in any way could be described as draining the swamp.

Seems the standard for white collar crimes of dishonesty is 8 years, right, Roger Stone?

Roger Stone is wildmeltulous?

I’m not saying you’re wrong WildT.
My point in summary is that I’m open to the idea that the President is smarter than I am, and may have a reason for doing this that I don’t yet understand.
Maybe there is no chess move. I don’t know. That’s why I’m reserving judgment for now.
I guess a secondary or implied point was that he served more time than some rapists and child molesters. That’s not to say he deserved to be released, just making note of that fact for the sake of perspective.

What Blago did goes beyond "white collar crime" and enters into betraying the public trust by putting up for bid one of the highest seats of government - for his own personal gain. This effects all Americans, not just the shareholders or customers of one corporation. Consider the margin in the Senate, and the vote for producing witnesses in the impeachment trail of Trump. The vote was so close, would you want it to come down to one single Democratic senator that was in office just because he paid a couple million more dollars to some gangster for his seat than a Republican offered?
Roger Stone has NEVER had the public's trust. Those who enabled Stone, did, however.

Sounds like someone who used to run the state dept. and who's hubby was the president

Selling off Senate seats? You don't think that's worth melting over? Did you see the vote to call witnesses for the Trump Senate trial? You think one Senate seat can't make a huge difference to the country as a whole? This isn't just some Illinois problem, senators affect all of us. I'd rather not see Democratic gangsters, or any gangsters profiting off of stuffing the Senate.
Maybe that's just me. But I have a hard time believing conservatives on this board being okay with who Blago is and what he was doing. Indeed, at the time of his conviction, there were NO conservatives coming to his defense. Now, just because the Orange One has pardoned him, he's an okay guy? Blago? Really?

Maybe, but I think it's closer to Pelosi's insider trading with Visa stocks - except in that case, betrayal of public trust in actually legal in the House.
But then, they make the laws, so of course it is.

Something about this makes me really miss this Dem:

African American support for Trump is significantly growing with low unemployment rates and a better quality of life.

On a side-note, I wonder what Mr. Traficant would have to say about the Qanon movement and in particular the allegations levied by Q against the various parties implicated in his/her drops...
