Racism is natural, as long as there are races, there will be racism. You can not change nature!

Matthews was speaking the truth but some folks can't handle it. Would today's Republicans approve of Ike sending the 101st Airborne into Little Rock to put it under de facto military occupation in order to enforce civil rights? Would today's Republicans approve of party leaders Everett Dirksen and Charles Halleck collaborating LBJ in order to pass the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act? Could Dirksen and Halleck survive the Republican primaries if they were around today?

Obviously we're not talking about the whole party, but the most reactionary elements of the party.

saying Republicans are racists is idiotic. But i pose a question:

Would it be any more accurate to say racists are Republican?

The most racist people I know are northeastern liberal elites

Nothing like completely rewriting history. Democrats have been more harmful to the black community than Sickle Cell.

That the GOP was the party of Jefferson Davis?

Even not taking that literally, if you believe that, then you're as ignorant as he is.

If Dirksen were in office today he'd say that the civil rights act and the voting rights act have served their purpose and we need to just move on.

Trackfan weighs in with the usual crap, and has to go back to the 1950's to do so.
But, I've seen trackfan defend the likes of Jeremiah Wright.

Soryy, but I don't care to be lectured on race by an Anti-Semite who turns a blind eye to any hateful, bigoted actions by members of his own race.

Bob Dole, George Bush (both) Mitt Romney and McCain did. The Republic Party is not much different from the other guys.

Don't get fooled by rhetoric of a few, on either side. Both parties are entrenched in the middle and there's no way to get them out
