‘TRUMPISM WITHOUT TRUMP' COULD BE THE WAY FORWARD, STEVE BANNON SAYS OF HISTORICALLY UNPOPULAR PRESIDENT

quote:

Maintaining a safe distance from President Donald Trump and his historic levels of unpopularity even while embracing his controversial rhetoric could be a blueprint for Republicans moving forward, according to his former chief strategist, Steve Bannon.
quote:

“He’s closed an enthusiasm gap by rallying around the Trump agenda,” Bannon, who was ousted from his White House role and has since gone on to support a slew of anti-establishment candidates, told The New York Times about Gillespie on Sunday. “And I think the big lesson for Tuesday is that, in Gillespie’s case, Trumpism without Trump can show the way forward. If that’s the case, Democrats better be very, very worried.”

It wasn’t the case. So we should be very, very optimistic?

Maybe but a boring as hell milk toast candidate like Ed Gillespie sure as shite isn't going to do pull off that kind of strategy either. He worked for Bush 43 in his administration and was head of the RNC while he was President.

He had no charisma and couldn't inspire people to vote for him, especially after two statewide elections in a row. Swampy as it gets. He needs to move on to the private sector.

Good fricking lord dude. This election did not put a dent in literally anything the GOP can do on a national level. Nobody in congress lost their seats.

If congress caught their act together, they are not less able now than before to pass tax reform, the wall, among other things.

I think that is more important politically than the statehouse in one state most of us don't even live in.

Huge pet peeve of mine. The word you are looking for is "milquetoast". The description when applied to a person is a reference to a character not the food.

Maybe so but it's a very dire waring to republicans on the hill that they had better deliver on their promises because keeping their voters happy is what will insulate them from democrat enthusiasm.

I know this.

Milk toast is pretty much the same thing to me.

Think about it. When you describe someone as milk toast, you're describing them as someone that's boring as shite and low energy as it gets.

Republicans won most of the elections in 2017. One state election is not a "referendum". That happens next year.
