I believe that they hated the fans that go to the games and have a good time with friends and family, and tailgate and so on. They saw it as a gathering for nuclear families and mostly conservative types.
Once again though, they are short sighted. How this is going to work out, instead of going to the games, on the other side of the state, or the next state over, those people are going to be spending their weekends closer to home, and more time in local activities, making stronger ties in the communities. That isn't good for liberals.

The leftists have been described as locusts when they were moving from blue states to red states and voting for same policies. Nothing is different here. Same thing is happening to cultural influences like athletics. You can bet when those are degraded or torn down, they'll move on to the next one.
We have seen that played out in Hollywood where offending the Chinese is taboo. See the remake of Redawn. The NFL network has shows involving The Top 10 like the NFL Top 10 traditions. One of those traditions was the playing of the national anthem. Now look at the NFL. The players are in a tizzy about the flag and anthem and outright condemn anyone who does support the flag and anthem.
What has happened to the sporting world has been atrocious and I don't see that not happening to other areas UNTIL conservatives start standing up, quit whining and take the fight back to them.

Some places will be giving them away for their televised games... Several lower level D1's were already doing that to give the appearance of a full stadium...

Agree, but take a moment and imagine what LSU looks like without football for a decade or two. Same is true for any of the big football schools. The contraction of removing millions and millions will be across academia, and has been needed for decades.

There are 20 threads a day here about how much you hate the players and the coaches, and how dumb you think they are, and what the ratings are like, and how you hope they all go broke because youre all done with it and youll never watch a game again, and then that means even more posts about what you do now instead of watching games, and god forbid trump tweet anything saying the same because thatll be another 10 pages on that.
Youre the ones hoping and wishing and praying for sports to die. Theres no version of this from liberals. None.
