I am admittedly ignorant on who is Chip Roy. And don’t consider google and AI to be the gospel on anything. If I care enough, I’ll spend more time and effort to educate myself accordingly.
But a quick search returns the following:
“Chip Roy has generally been aligned with the populist-conservative wing of the Republican Party that overlaps heavily with “MAGA,” but he has never been a completely loyal Trump-aligned figure in the way someone like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Matt Gaetz has been.
He’s a member of the hard-right House Freedom Caucus and has supported many Trump-era priorities like aggressive border enforcement, spending cuts, and conservative judicial policies. He also worked as chief of staff to Ted Cruz, another figure associated with the populist right. So politically, many people would describe Roy as “MAGA-adjacent” or part of the broader Trump-era conservative movement.
But Roy has also repeatedly broken with Donald Trump personally. For example:
He voted to certify the 2020 election results after January 6.
He endorsed Ron DeSantis over Trump in the 2024 Republican primary.
Trump publicly attacked Roy as a “RINO” at times for not backing him strongly enough.
Roy has criticized Trump on policy and strategy, including on border-security rhetoric and spending bills.
At the same time, Roy still often ends up supporting Trump-backed legislation and working within the Trump coalition.
So the most accurate answer is probably: Chip Roy has been part of the Trump-era conservative movement and often associated with MAGA politics, but he has also maintained an independent streak and has never been a pure Trump loyalist.”
Does the above sound accurate? I’m asking because I am a skeptic and I truly don’t know.

Rubio had some gems, too. I guess he once said if Trump hadn't inherited $200 million, he would be selling watches in Manhattan.
