The amendment, which would allow $10,000 per child to be distributed from tax-privileged 529 savings plans each year, was included in Friday’s joint House-Senate conference bill. It would represent a tax cut of about $500 billion over 10 years, according to Congress’ Joint Committee on Taxation.

With the Cruz amendment’s inclusion, passage of the bill would represent a major advancement for school choice at the federal level.

The fact that Murkowski and Collins voted no on the amendment further proves these two need to be primaried BADLY!

Secondly, it’s unfortunate the House version allowing for 529’s to be opened for unborn children wasn’t included. Further shows the hatred for unborn children by the Dems and GOPe.

Cool

There are definitely some benefits of home schooling, but it's generally pretty easy to pick the home schooled kids out of a crowd once they reach high school/college age. Good science curriculum can also be tough to come by as 80% of home school curriculum is put out by conservative evangelical and catholic groups.

This makes sense as there are no Catholic Schools in the USA

You just made this up; you work with a lot of young kids, some who were home schooled? Or maybe you invite kids from around the block over for bar b ques, and are quick to identify little Johnny as one of those home school types?

I was just a high school/college age kid once

It's simply difficult to receive the same level of peer socialization as a home school kid, especially given that so many within that group have their outside social interactions confined to church activities with a singular niche. They are frequently, for lack of a better term, socially awkward.

I have worked with an intelligent young lady who was home schooled and now has a degree from Trinity Univ. She's a nurse now, close to 30 years old, not a bad looking lady with D cup knockers, is a virgin, converting to Judaism, and spends her Friday & Saturday nights in uptown and downtown Dallas trying to convert drunks as they stumble our of bars at midnight or later. She never drinks herself and has little to no dating history as far as I know. She is a social misfit.

She's an old maid before the age of 30 and hides her social ineptness in her religion, which is still to be determined. Can't figure out why those drunks keep grabbing her tits. :)

Meh. 529s are transferable. Just open one for yourself and transfer it to your kid when it is born.

This is a meme.

Macro-evolution is but a very small part of science. I was taught with one of those curricula and it in no way impeded my understanding of the sciences.

The fact that you believe "macro-evolution" is a thing kinda proves my point.

Evolution is hardly the only scientific arena which is lacking in that curriculum however.

Mmmh huh...and a lot of that "peer socialization" is exactly why responsible Parents undertake the task of home schooling. Social jungle in a lot of schools...City ones especially.

But I understand your point. My 3 yr. old G Grandaughter preferred the "crying" emoticon...so... .

Have a good Season, Roger.

Not really. I had to differentiate because if home schooling leaves anything out, it's that part.

I understand there is no difference, which disproves your bigotry.

I'd be interested to hear what your metric is regarding success of a science curriculum.

35/36 on science portion of ACT, magna cum laude in biomedical sciences, magna cum laude in pharmacy school. Didn't seem to negatively impact me.

Big knockers, good job, reasonably attractive and isn’t a whore just a little awkward, , women dont have to have any social skills, 30 year old me would be all over that

i understand the pt you might be trying to make as i am around home schooled kids every day ... but this is about the most asinine example you could proffer ...

and wtf do her looks/sexual history have to do with anything? ... one's social ability is dependent on their promiscuity?

The tax code should be completely neutral relative to social engineering.
