I have to say, I never thought I would see this on reddit. The website announced a new "medal" that could be gifted from one user to another to celebrate helpful or high quality posts ($3.99), and that the funds would go straight to the World Health Organization to help them during this pandemic.

You would think given the ultra left demographics on reddit that they would celebrate such a philanthropic gesture. Instead, the comments are pretty much nothing but people excoriating them for supporting the CCP and the WHO.

To make the optics of this even worse, about a year ago reddit received a $150 million investment from Chinese owned Tencent.

Reddit is pretty wishy washy when it comes to China. All of last year it was constant frick China posts especially during the Tiananmen Square massacre anniversary. Most of it was virtue signaling and attention whoring. Now that the focus is in the US, there’s a lot more criticism of the US.

The main culprits are the mods and admins of Reddit. They censor a lot of shite. I’ve seen them take down even a lot memes making fun of China and the WHO.
