I don't know the primary motivator for selling your practice to someone much bigger but I suspect not have the headache of operating a back office being a huge motivator.
The EMR mandate really started the avalanche. Doctor's offices were looking at $80k on up for startup costs alone. There were a couple doctors I knew that tried to go on the cheap and ended up buying pirated software. They sold to a local system within months of that ill-fated decision.

Typical communist sheeple mentality. That does't seem to fit how I feel about the issue, si I will just go with feelings. Yeah, that feels right.

and then I explained that we never turned anyone away from visiting when a patient was dying but attempted to keep the groups small and make sure they understood the risks
??? So you say ' never turned anyone away' but 'attempted to keep the groups small'.
So where you ever successful? Would you be visiting your dying relative? What makes it ok for doctors and nurses to be around these patients who they have only just met but family members are discouraged or not allowed?
Are these patient carrying something more deadly than covd19???

Exactly what killed a friend of mine in July. Denial of intravenous fluids and inducement of Remdesivir destroyed his kidneys.
People think doctors are Gods. I have been saying the doctors have killed far more people than covid19 has.
Remdesivir is poison. And the idiot doctors are giving it to people that are very sick. You figure out what is going to happen. These doctors sure can't.
God bless the doctors that know better.
