Sounds like about 90% of this board.
I could agree with you on this. It is just a demonstration on how divided we are.

Agreed, Maher and Colbert handled it better than many suspected. They are very intelligent guys, and will find a way to cope.

Appreciate the notice but no thank you

This is also the Internet.

Observation 2....that guy "the liberal redneck" was faking his southern accent
I had that impression as well, but at worst Bill was trying to bridge the divide between people who never leave the city coasts and country people. So I'll forgive him for that. City people I think now know they don't have a fricking clue what people in the countryside are thinking.

quote:Yep. And, Maher was the loudest voice in 2000 slamming Gore for distancing himself from Clinton. Maher says some things that make me want to vomit, but no one on the left is more of a proponent of free and open speech than he is.
Both he and Axelrod basically called the protestors idiots, said that Clinton made a huge mistake ignoring the rust belt and Trump spoke to them but said that while they support the presidency they don't necessarily have to support his policies.

I'm saying Colbert has been handling it like a bitch and is still very openly defying the President Elect and not giving him a chance. Maher has clearly extended an olive branch and is giving him that chance. What the frick has Colbert done to try and do that? Tell his supporters to calm down somewhat? He didn't give them a reason to calm down. I think Maher did give us a reason not to flip our shite, so kudos to him.

They pretty much spent 10 minutes calling white working class people racists. I don't think they've learned their lesson yet.
Keep pandering to the ultra liberal minorities and white guilt voters. You may never win again.
You'll just be there.

But honestly, John Legend should have been kicked off of that panel. He was clearly trying to incite a race riot and for black people to never accept Trump as their president no matter what he does due to some perceived racism from his past. Why was he allowed there in the first place if that was his message?

No way man, I was told this board doesn't have that much of a lean and is actually more representative of the country's demographics than most.

I've always liked Maher despite his leanings..he makes me laugh heartily either way..we're on the same wavelength about PCness.
Fallon and Kimmel I suspect will be easier to watch than Colbert and Meyers the next few months?

I don't watch Maher unless he has some epic rant. But it needs to be pointed out he made no effort to present any outsider perspective or give a cross section of ideas.
91-92 Bill Clinton is going to have to be the model for Democrats moving forward if they want to win again. Obama pulled too hard left too quickly and this is the result.
The Dems aren't going back though. They've put themselves against the wall with this shite. Moderate-conservative Dems and independents aren't going to buy this bullshite.
If Trump had toned down the more inflammatory talking points and no sound bite baggage, he may have won in the high 50s.

It keep going back to the Vox article from April and these folks have no clue how to deal with everyday, working Americans

I live and work in DC so I'm constantly bombarded with liberal viewpoints. I watch these types shows fully to hear their perspectives despite how out there I think they are.
Those types on the panel aren't hearing anything but their own voices. I'm just floored at the lack of introspection by these types. At least Maher acknowledged some deficiencies.
It's like the Simpsons meme "Am I out of touch? No, it's the kids who are wrong".
For people who consider themselves so informed and cultured they don't seem to know how to relate to anyone but themselves.

I was telling my wife and my son this while we were just watching. The panel acknowledged that Hillary was out of touch with the common man, yet in the same breath showed that they are just as out of touch as she was. I've been following this board for a few months now, and the "racism agenda" represents a tiny fraction of the people on this board. The real issues were corruption, the revelations of Wikileaks, the economy, etc. Sure, it's Louisiana so a handful of people spout racist comments, but that component was negligible in this election. The percentage of Trump voters who are racist rednecks is probably smaller than the percentage of Democrat voters who are out there the past couple nights beating up whitey, smashing windows, and burning stuff. Yet the Democratic party is still the "intelligent elite" - they characterize the Republican vote by its lowest denominator while ignoring the same in their own party. So out of touch with the realities that drove this Trump victory.

I wish the show had just been Maher and Axelrod. Nobody else had anything insightful to say.
That woman was so terrible. She kept fighting to get the floor only to garble out shrill half baked thoughts.

Why do John Legend and his wife think that we need to hear their opinion on every topic these days?
