Some people like that walk around with a chip on their shoulder all the time and deep down are very miserable beings. There isn't anything that you could have said to him to change his mind or attitude because his mind is already sealed.
I work with some older black men and almost everything out of their mouths is race related. They walk around looking to be offended and are always bitter and angry. I try to avoid them.

During the argument, did you happen to glance at his knuckles? This could have wound up really bad for you if you didn't.

YOu have a lot of courage to stand up to him.

I've seen this kind of stuff at the YMCA before...

I just leave...these guys live for pick up games like it's real life.

there is something off when people are this obsessed with winning a pick up game and arguing with people before, during and after the game.

I probably would have said something to management "he's a problem for many customers, attitude, language and insulting comments=no joy for the rest of us"

This is what happens when grown men weren't allowed to fight when they were kids...what you are experiencing at your advanced age is what all men my age experienced when we were 5-7...a fricking bully who wakes you up to the fact that you ain't special...the difference is that when men my age were in this situation we were not only allowed to handle it as men should....we were encouraged to do so....male teachers and roll models would egg it on until kids broke out into a helluva fist fight.....and when men my age reached an age where we could actually do some damage to one another it was mostly out of our system.....but young guys less than about 40 or so have been taught to be in tune with their feelings and to resist bullies with words....and like pussies throughout the history of the world men who do this HATE themselves for a looooonnnnggggggg time....when it happened to a kid back in the day he would eventually handle it...he'd either get his arse whipped or not but there is no arse whipping like the one a man will lay on himself everyday for knowing that he has acted like a pussy....and that is where a huge % of the US Male population is now under the age of about 40 or so....y'all have been feminized and domesticated beyond your ability to accept....as witnessed by the OP calling this a "diary" entry twice now....what kind of a grown arse man has "diary" in their lexicon? A grown arse man who hadn't been emasculated would use "rant" or "diatribe" but "diary entry"????

Seriously....hands up....reveal you age and whether or not you have whupped someone's arse or had you arse whupped or both since you were an adult....I'll go first...

edit...the last time I wasn't 22 I was 45 LOL...I just remember getting in a shoving match that would have been a fist fight if the Polizei hadn't gotten involved immediately when a drunk nazi at a spring festival in Nuremberg mistakenly told my mother to get fricked in German when he thought we couldn't understand what he had said....when I insisted he apologize, in German, his drunk arse decided it would be a good idea to push me...which would have lead to my knocking his drunk arse out but I was grabbed immediately by several policce, as was he...and wrestled to the ground and handcuffed. I was taken out of the beer tent and told to leave because they had been watching this guy for a while and knew he was baiting festival goes into a fight so his buddies would have an excuse to jump in and basically start a riot....they were in the process of arresting about 50 of his buddies at the time.....had they not been there and grabbed me immediately I would have had the arse whuppin of a lifetime LOL....they didn;t press any charges against me but my family and I were asked to leave the festival for our own safety....which we gladly did...


52....and yes, I have whupped an arse and had mine whupped good since I was 18 years old....the last time I was 22....but then again I don't go about calling folks a-hole and douche-bags and being shocked when they react negatively....
