Political naiveté. Paul - or any Conservative that wants to shrink the Government subsidies across the board - are fools to believe that they can ever get more than a mere less than 10% of the Black vote. Not going to happen. Money (Government subsidies) talks.

In all honesty, Paul would get more (redneck/racist) turnout and votes if he went all out racist and called Obama the N word...than any "reaching out to the Black community" will deliver.

Black are like Liberals, and Muslims; if they don't see the light in regard to the Ideology that they (tacitly) support, by now....they aint'.

Good luck to Rand Paul on his outreach to the black community. In case he hasn't noticed, 95% of the black community still supports the empty suit in the White House now.

If Paul ends up running against Booker, the overwhelming percentage of blacks will vote for Booker SIMPLY BECAUSE OF SKIN COLOR. Paul can ask Hillary Clinton how that works.

Well, one strategy is to not "inflame" the opposition base.

So, by not providing any raw meat to energize the opponent base, one MAY affect voter turnout in said base.

There's so much ignorance in this post, that it's not even worth responding to.

Far less noble pursuits, like balancing the budget and securing our borders?

i agree with the strategy

we've already seen what the liberal response will be, though (see thread on lack of "right wing" response to the gay college football player)

I think that's the key here. So much of politics is perception and not only reality. Just like with the black outreach, these things begin to add up. The more he can get people of all races to perceive libertarians positively, the more people will be open to it.

I have a dream that one day this nation will allow conservative persons and politicians to use the same insults towards a Democratic President that liberals get to use towards a Republican President.

FYI, W wasn't subjected to a fraction of the below-the-belt insults that Obama was subjected to. It's not even close, and only the most delusional think otherwise.

It's 2014, and you think the Republican Party should double down on the Southern Strategy? Really?

I don't think this will necessarily carry over to the whole party, but it least it will make swing voters perceive him as not like "all those other Republicans". I'll be curious to see what the folks at MSNBC have to say about this.

You're the delusional one, trackfan. Bush was crucified by BOTH the left wing and the media.

But, don't let me derail you from your endeavor to revise history. Left-wing kooks accused Ron Paul of being a racist, too. I guess you have forgotten.

Oh, and you know full well that 95% of blacks still support Obama. You didn't refute that because you can't.
