If solving crimes was the point, then you would be correct.

But despite decades of new surveillance technologies - traffic cameras, ring cameras, cell phone cameras, license plate readers, GPS tracking, improved dna and fingerprint technology, closure rates on crimes have not improved, and have actually decreased in many cases.

So what is the point?

The hypotheticals are incredible.... Next manufactured global pandemic, in case I need to go somewhere under lockdown, this flock camera will be what holds me back! I live in a small town so "flock cameras" have very little impact on my day-to-day life. Cameras are everywhere you shop and if you go to big stores like Walmart the have facial recognition and surveil you the minute you drive into their parking lot.
