Last night Missouri had a proposition to keep “Right to Work”. Voters overwhelmingly chose No. (900k votes to 400k yes votes)

My question is why the hell would this law be put to vote on a primary night? Is it normal for a proposition like this that carries a ton of weight to be held on a primary/special election night? Seems like it would be a no brainer this should be put on the November ballot for general elections...

I'm sure there was some frickery going on with that. It probably affected the Democratic primary for St Louis County executive. I don't know what effect it may have had on other elections around the state.

But there is always frickery going on with when to put stuff on the ballot. Back in 2012 or so, the city of St Louis overwhelmingly voted to cut the number of wards (and thus city council members) in half from 28 to 14. This was on one of the Obama ballots so turn out was incredible. And again, passed in a landslide.

Now that it's supposed to happen soon, some city council members want to put it on an April ballot next year to undo the previous vote. They want to use the lowest turn out election time to change something that was passed during one of the highest voter turnouts the city has seen. It's borderline criminal.

It's hard to get that message across when the unions are buying ads to run every single commercial break during cardinals games and John Goodman is doing the radio spots.

All the ads kept mentioning a billion dollar campaign for Right to Work, but the only people buying the ads were against it.

The republicans actually favored having it last night I read.

That was a mistake and this is a bad thing for Missouri.

We already have. The union shop I’m forced to work in has lost damn near 100 employees to South Dakota and overseas. The problem is that it is a trade union that ensnares other company employees that don’t work in that trade. The company decides they can move the non- trade jobs elsewhere, and they do. The trade guys can’t be moved or eliminated. Therefore, the non-trade people were used as a money machine for the union until they were laid off. It’s bullshite and should be criminal.

It should be criminal. It’s sad that these unions make promises about how they are out for better pay and better conditions for workers when in reality the workers are just a ploy for a bunch of lazy pos to sit on their arse and collect union dues, then turn around and pay for the very lawmakers who lobby for the unions in the first place. It’s dang near a money laundering scheme. I am sorry for your position. Come on down to Texas, we are in constant demand for good hard working people like yourself. God Bless

The were tons of ads to get the law to pass and I didn't see 1 ad against it...was strange. I hate that it passed but my and most republicans focus is on finally getting rid of Claire.

I went through Missouri a few times over the last 3 months, and I the only ad I saw referring to the right to work were those ads that were against it. They were everywhere too.
