How rare is it for a judge to approve a warrant to search a law office? I’ve never heard of it happening before and would have guessed it was protected by attorney/client privledges.

Very very rare.
Trump is a baby but he is the victim of a high stakes witch hunt.

Yes and it will be. No way Muller can empty Cohens files on Trump to national media.

Pretty rare, but not everything in a lawyer's office is covered by attorney client privilege. The FBI was NOT targeting material covered by attorney client privilege here, they just weren't. They were after Cohen's personal records and such.

Now, the FBI was overly aggressive here and it sounds like they did sweep up some stuff covered by privilege, but unless they had a specific warrant for those things (and they didn't ) they can't use them for anything.

extremely rare. What this tells you is that they have fool proof evidence of crimes being committed and everyone should be extremely scared

Question I have is what CRIME are they pursuing? Paying off a porn star in a mutual agreement is not a crime. There is no evidence any campaign funds were used.

Not as rare in Federal Courts. The federal conspiracy and money laundering statutes are so broad that defense lawyers have to be careful about how they're paid by drug dealing or mob-related clients, and the authoritarian judges and magistrates who compose the majority of the federal bench may as well be second prosecutors.

Im not scared

This investigation has jumped the shark. It’s more ridiculous than the Lewinsky scandal by orders of magnitude

It's being reported that they are investigating FEC violations and bank fraud.

Speculation is Cohen might have used a home refinance loan to get the $130K to pay Daniels. If he did, and did not disclose to the bank what he was using the money for, it technically would comprise bank fraud.

Rare but not unheard of.

A/C privilege is limited. It has a number of limitations and exceptions that mean theoretically the FBI may find non-covered information.

Most importantly, A/C privilege can't be used to shield communications that are in furtherance of crimes.

And frankly a pretty fricking minor technecality at that. Did the bank complain? I doubt it.

You have to wonder though, how does Trump's lawyer not have $130K in liquid assets? My God, the man must pay peanuts lol

Is this a federal crime though?

Similar, in certain ways, to the Manafort changes.

Agreed no clue how Cohen couldn't float $130k.

If it weren't the FBI would never have got a federal warrant.

OF COURSE it is a federal crime.
