How many airplanes have been hijacked since armed Air Marshals have been present on every flight??
Let me answer that for you.. ZERO! Going on 17 years now.

Serious question, has there been many stories of Air Marshalls stopping attempted hijackings?

No, because they are a deterrent.

No. Because nobody is going to attempt to hijack a plane with an Air Marshall on board.

Planes are no longer considered a soft target.

Why are you comparing a trained marshal to an English lit teacher?

It's almost as if people are less likely to hijack an aircraft if they know there could be an armed federal agent on the flight...

mind = blown

Im not. Teachers would need training. I’m sure most campuses have at least a small number teachers that are not complete nutless DEMwits and would be willing to get trained to carry and use a firearm.

Just a little training eh?

quote:

Because of the nature of their occupation, federal air marshals (FAMs) travel often. They must also train to be highly proficient marksmen. Since the 1990s, air marshals are considered to have the highest firearms qualification standards of all United States federal law enforcement agencies. A FAM's job is to blend in with other passengers on board aircraft and rely heavily on their training, including investigative techniques, criminal terrorist behavior recognition, firearms proficiency, aircraft specific tactics, and close quarters self-defense measures to protect the flying public."[2]

More SRO’s are a better comparison.

I am strongly for getting rid of gun free zones at schools, allowing adults to concealed carry.

Boom! Problem fixed.

Doesn't cost the taxpayers a penny either.

Consider the presence of armed, well trained teachers. Not all teachers are willing or able to do this, but having several at a school would be a deterrent.

Much better option than arming teachers.

The key is having several at a school and no one knowing who they all are.

The nutjobs target schools to run up a score. They may be willing to die but not as much if they only get 2 or 3 before somebody kills them.

If I am a nutjob, I go the gun free zone school with one armed security guard. He is easily assassinated from behind, then I am free to shoot.

A school where any adult could be armed is a hard target.

Exactly takes away their “sick glory”.

Heartbreaking to think about the football coach that died protecting students with nothing but his body, if he had been armed he may have taken this guy out.

I'm a pro 2A conservative and I'm not so sure we should just start handing out weapons to every teacher.

Me either, volunteers should be evaluated, vetted and well trained. Like police officers.
