re: Question for a Trump supporters

This entire premise is predicated on two statements devoid of facts:
When did she force veterans to choose for-profit universities?
So every veteran who chooses to attend a for-profit university is ending up with a worthless degree? Because if not, then this statement is also false.
How many liberal arts degrees are paying off for those students attending reputable state universities?
This NYT piece is a giant nothingburger.

The post-9/11 G.I. Bill, which rewarded returning service members with college funding, first passed under George W. Bush and was unanimously expanded by Congress in 2017 with Mr. Trump’s signature. But the value of veterans’ hard-earned G.I. Bill benefits is being undermined from within the Trump administration. The culprit, unfortunately, is Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
When did she force veterans to choose for-profit universities?
quote:
Despite robust objections from roughly three dozen national veterans and military service organizations, Secretary DeVos elected to eviscerate student protections and quality controls for colleges — particularly those governing the often low-quality, predatory for-profit colleges that target veterans in their marketing schemes.

quote:You pathetic looser, you can't even read.
The way you guys wave the veteran or military flag when convenient is hilariously pathetic
This is the headline from the article I posted:
quote:
Student Veterans Win TOO as Court Unchains Obama Loan Protection.
Did you see the word -- TOO? You know, as in also.
Here's the second sentence in the article:
quote:
On Tuesday these students, along with thousands of non-veterans, gained an easier path to loan forgiveness from a federal court ruling in Washington, D.C.
Did you miss that too, dumbass?
Now that is out of the way, what did you think of the fact Devos took the same side as association of for-profit colleges (you know, the same group as Trump University) in an "effort to protect for-profit schools".
I'm sure you will have no comment on the substantive point of the article. Not a dolt like you.

Nothing you said refuted my point. Try again.

Get rid of tuition assistance programs then watch the cost of a college education drop like a stone.

How about a comment on Devos trying to protect the for-profit college scumbags against the students?

Is she forcing students to go to these for profit schools?

I'll give a response here. As a veteran who separated last year and is attending school again, I can guarantee you that before someone is discharged they are warned about for profit universities. In TAP/GPS you are given classes about your GI-Bill benefits and while active, to use TA you must attend a class to learn about what schools to avoid.
If someone still attends these for profit schools after the effort to teach them about it, then the government should have no burden to help them after they make a mistake. The GI Bill is amazing, I'm using it now. But if someone isnt educated about what they are doing with those benefits, that is 100% on them.

The answer to your question is no. Veterans and the GI Bill are working together just fine. If someone is getting "screwed over" they brought it on themselves through piss poor decisions.

The DOE should be vanquished.

Sounds like they should protect themselves with common sense.

The favorite trick of these schools is to have all these fancy brochures that show that a high percentage of their graduates have landed jobs within like 6 months from graduating.
What they forget to tell the students is that these "jobs" are ANY jobs (bartender, chamber maid), and not necessarily the jobs for which these students borrowed $50,000-$75,000 to get degrees for.

And? There is an amazing thing called the internet, that these folk have access to with their smartphones, that will tell anyone with the most basic search that these schools are for profit and predatory. I'm not a fan of saying to use common sense, because most people don't have it, but here they need to use some common sense.

But was there any reason for Devos to cancel the rule that would have forced for-profit colleges to prove that the students they enroll are able to attain decent-paying jobs?
Or for her to scrap the rule that would have revoked federal funding and access to financial aid for poor-performing schools?

I don't necessarily agree with you, but, be that as it may, let me ask you this:

Why is student debt an issue? I don't get it.
Make a loan..pay it back.
