thats different isnt it? that program has been around for years and requires the loanee to work in public sector/government for something like 10-15 years while making minimum payments on the loans

Nah, but I could support legislation that
1) allowed people to sue schools for offering useless degrees
2) bans loans for useless degrees, ie only fund specific tracks
3) punish schools like U of Phoenix that promise shiat to people that clearly can’t cut it, akin to predatory loans.
While people should be held accountable for their actions, the schools are to blame as well. Allowing an average or subpar student to take out hundreds of thousands in loans in a field where they know it would never be paid off? Schools should have some fiduciary responsibility.
