in a few of the threads I have seen about stimulus checks, I have seen a few posters complain that they received this error message:
I just came across this gem and thought I would share
CNBC
anyone that had this issue needs to not be discouraged & check again
quote:
According to information that we have on file, we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time.

In most cases, this happened because the system was overloaded, Luis Garcia, an IRS spokesperson, told CNBC Make It.
“What happened is instead of having an error message or a message saying the system is very busy, it just says your information isn’t in here, that was the default,” says Garcia. But that should be fixed now.
“Just be patient, check back later,” he says. “If you filed last year’s or this year’s taxes we have your information.”

If some government drone moron would have just had a single ounce of brain power they would have known to put literally anything else for the error message.

Yeah, I got that message. Five minutes later I tried again and everything worked fine. Gettin' muh money!

Well, now we know what question Jonathan Karl or Jim Acosta will ask at today's briefing.

Yeah I get an error message now that says either my info isn't there or I have tried to access it too many times today...well if I didn't get the freaking error message and told to try back maybe I wouldn't have accessed the damn thing too many times! Sheesh!

I still get this message:
"According to information that we have on file, we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time."

I received the message too all day and now am locked out for 24 hours. Hope the web developer of this site gets a layoff.

The fact that they took nearly a month to put this online app together and go live should erase these technical difficulties.
I understand there was no system set up. This is “free” money, nobody should be mad just because others have seen the payment. But I still just don’t get why it has taken so long to essentially map a database from ss# to direct deposit
It’s also so scary that people are mad they can give the federal government their banking info
That’s the reason they don’t have mine on file to begin with, I don’t want them to have it.

Wait, you think you can keep your banking info secret from the govt?

What makes you think that not putting it on your tax return means the government won't be able to have it?
All they have to do is flag something for a simple audit and they can get every last piece of information from every financial institution you deposit money in
Not to mention all the usual 1099 tracking of over $10 in interest ever year. All trade information. Etc.
Its pretty dumb to not just use remote deposit for taxes. You arent preventing them from jack shite and its faster.
