Let’s be honest about two things:
1. Barack did not type that up himself and post it.
2. He probably doesn’t care one way or the other (nor does Trump care about the well wishes either).

While that’s probably true, I still think saying things like this publicly has value. I would’ve said it doesn’t matter in the past but we’re so divided that any gesture toward common American identity from someone high profile is a small positive.
People call Trump a nazi every day, Trump retweets that Biden is a pedophile.
It all needs to cool down a little. Obama’s tweet won’t solve much at all but it’s better than if he were silent IMO

I hate his politics but never thought Obama was a shitty guy. Smug? Sure, but he wasn’t hateful like many on the left today.
