All minimum wage does is cap the market leading to forever having to increase the minimum wage. There is a floor where people will not work for less, or those that will are not desired by the employer. If the invisible hand was allowed to set minimum wage it would take care of itself.

Why should high school kids with no skills, getting there first job deserve your "living" wage?

Presumable said high school kid is a dependent in this scenario? If so their living wage would be whatever them and their employer agreed upon. Minimum wage requires an employer to pay that same kid the same thing they would a person who was not someone else's dependent. My initial and subsequent responses to this thread have stated that minimum wages are a bad idea and should be eliminated.

I get it, you want a "living" wage.

The problem is right now, millions of undocumented, uneducated and unskilled workers are putting massive downward pressure on wages. The labor supply is too fluid right now and will keep wages from rising to where they should be.

I am going to get one one way or another just like every other human being on the planet. I am going to make my nut and see to it that my needs are met as long as I am physically able, just like every other human on the planet. What I don't want, and cant imagine why anyone would, is for people like walmart heirs having their hand in my pocket whether I shop at walmart or not just so they can be benefactors to charity and the arts while living like kings. Why you and many like you are OK with that is beyond me but it ain't a conservative idea.

They are paying more than that. A sizeable portion of their taxes are going to subsidize the production of those hash browns.....

The only reason the price skyrocketed is a large increase in minimum wage.
